Wow... I just hope it works out for you.
From your update, soun dslike they SHOULD just total it. Otherwise, I would think you'll have a family of Gremlins living in your Vette for the rest of it's days.
Either way, I hope the best for you. That just plain sucks.
Will your title reflect the water damage? From your prospective, I would hope the title is not changed. But if I was someone that was going to be buying the car, I would want to know.
Sell (trade)the car...remember it is "just" a car, a bunch of nuts and bolts, not a human life. Everyone makes fun of me b/c I don't take my car out in the rain...Corvettes do melt when they get wet!!.....best of luck...
Update on my flooded 2004 Mag Red/Grey 6 speed coupe. After exactly 7 weeks since the car got flooded with approximately 2-3 inches of water in each footwell, I picked up the car this evening. Geico paid for everything without any squawking, allowing for as the service department said, an expensive fix. Everything electrical that was touched and anything that could remotely be involved was replaced with new components. The total came to $18,212 including about $3,800 in labor. I drove the car about 100 miles this afternoon/evening and it is absolutely beautiful.Perfect, everything electrical, HUD, doors. locks, windows CD, Hatch release, lights, auto air, etc., worked perfectly. I cannot tell that there was any problem with the car to begin with.Just driving the car fast on a sunny, cold day felt so fantastic. I was really pretty miserable this whole time the car was being fixed. However, there are 2 small but somewhat deep scratches on the open door doorsill. Chevrolet service deparrment signed off on the fact that I will make an appointment and it will be fixed. It is in an area obviously where the paint does not have to match exactly. The car is filthy so I will have to detail it first before I determine if there are any other scratches or blemishes. There were none that were obvious to the eye as I inspected the car before taking it home. Anyhow, tomorrow I am going to drive, drive, drive.
Will the title get a flood damage report attached to it by the DMV now or possibly even a "salvage" or "rebuilt" title name? One thing I would do is take the carpets out because they have rubberized backing and any water that got underneath is trapped and will start rusting everything underneath that can rust. Check the oil level and if it's higher than it was before water might have got in but probably did not. The starter got wet but probably dried out. Have you tried the electrical system out to see what is working and what is not? The wheel bearings are probably OK as they are sealed units. I would bet your main damage will be interior trim. I hope it turns out well for you.
Greg, all that was replaced, new carpets, wheel hubs, everything you can imagine, BCM, PCM, wiring harnesses, horn, the list of parts replaced is 3 pages long. The car is totally fixed, runs like the 3,750 mile '04 it was before it got flooded.
from a fellow New Yorker.........Lifes good. after reading this a few months ago, i thought you would be driving a new one. Geico is sure doing things differently(better)than they were years ago ! one for the good guys and good driving!!
Help me fellow owners, I am miserable. I live in Manhattan and keep my '04 Mag Red Coupe in the garage at my parents home on Long Island. It has been raining for several days straight and I had been keeping close tabs on the situation with multiple calls daily to my parents, who told me that there was no water pooling in the streets etc. Anyway, the garage flooded, when I got there the car was dead, a couple of inches of water in the footwells up to the bottom cushion of the seats, water up to the bottom of the front bumper. Water was pumped out of the garage, dry floor, no more water in the interior of the car, just damp, made a claim to Geico, they were cool, said all would be covered, adjuster would be sent early next week, car will be flatbedded to repair shop and we will see what is wrong. Obviously, electronics screwed, seat motors, etc. From what I have described relative to the depth of the water, up to the bottom of front bumper, middle of tires, above bottom door sill which allowed water to get into the cabin, do you readers think that I have engine damage??? What other damage might I have??I have been so careful with this car, yet based on reports from my parents, I did not go out and pick up the car. IDIOT! FLOCKING IDIOT!

Sh----t happens. If you can get a reasonable settlement, total the car and get a new one. There are lots of good deals around. You just have to look. Sorry for your mess.
Wow! Glad to hear such a positive update regarding your flooded car. And, Kudos to Geico Insurance for coming through big time on your C5. Now, just enjoy.
