The purple color was very nice and looked good on the C5. Too bad they didn't make too many of them - guess it just wasn't all that popular with the majority of buyers.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought that the "purple" of the pace car was actually termed Radar Blue. What is the actual color name for the pace car?
I have one of the 146 convertibles made in the medium purple pearl. Mine has the oak interior and an oak top. It's an incredible color for certain. Probably one of my favorites. I've yet to see another one on the road myself.

That would be a sight to see.
Does it really get dark like the starter of the thread described? I believed he used 'almost black', at first I was thinking it was a custom color but after reading the posts here I am rethinking myself. I have seen the color in person but in the light conditions I saw it, it was an awfully light color, nowhere near black.

I saw it when it was getting later in the day. I am sure it was more vibrant in the full sun
whats with the one purple from the year 2000. According to idavette, it was an export. Can someone explain...

i too like black rose..but i once saw an iridescent black on purple vette. it was cool because it looked black until it reflected light. stealthy...james bondish.

That's most likely the JD Power "Platinum Power" one off that Billy Phelps (Corvette plant worker) won. It was a different shade of Purple from the other 2.

It does get darker when the sun goes down. In the sun the metallic really stands out and the purple really shows though. In the evening though the car turns almost a charcoal grey color. At night it essentially looks black. It's a great color regardless of the time of day...
