Thanks for the tip. Just got back from Walmart and bought one of those mirror sheets ($6). Used some tracing paper to outline the shape and cut it out. Very simple and looks pretty good.
Pardon my ignorance, but what material did you use for that?
(and are those just peel n stick numbers from the hardware store?)
Thanks
I Googled and surfed the internet and found a local manufacturer who used sheet plastic for some kind of cellphone product and traded him a sixpac for a few 12''x12'' pieces of the textured sheet plastic. Talked the guy at Kinkos into giving me some of the vinyl used for signs (very durable it's the same stuff used for decals). Down loaded Corvette font off the net. Used Adobe Illustrator to set up letters at the proper skew and made a decal. It's been on there through the summer heat with no signs of deteroration.I used some of the vinyl to dress up my engine too.
Actually, your mod gave me that idea. I knew someone here already made one but I couldn't remember the thread name to search it. Mine is actually if you include the emblem and the 3M double sided tape comes up to more than $30. The emblem I got a long time ago for $19.99.
Was shopping at Walmart earlier and found myself in the auto parts section. Saw this thin acrylic plastic with chrome backing for repairing broken side mirrors and a light bulb lit up. I remember a member doing it and buying stuff from Home Depot.
However, th actual size of the actual product is 8 1/2 by 13 1/2. The one I did is smaller 7 x 10.
Wonder is this stuff big enough to do inside of trunk lid????

Probably not. You can try and measure. That stuff is a 7x10 sheet from Walamart. I've also seen it a Pepboys. They might have a bigger one at Pepboys for Bigrigs but I'm not sure. Otherwise, if you really want to, just put 2 pieces together but it might look a little tacky if they're not lined up. Good luck. Next up is probably the battery/fuse bay. But I have to figure it out first.
