If you have them, are you pleased? Anything I need to know before taking the plunge? I have a 2001 MN6 with everything stock except Corsa cat-backs. Thanks.
I have the QTP setup and it works great. Make sure you mount the wires securely so they don't come in contact with the hot exhaust or you'll be splicing in some new wires like a certain person I know .
And where/how they are mounted on my car. (it is an A4 so I couldn't mount them infront of the rear axle, though you still can't see them) The bar at the bottom of the picture is the rear sway bar for reference.
Also, by using the electrical outlets to mount the switch I can take it out if I sell it and not have any extra holes drilled.
I have the cutouts and they're great. Did the install when I did their headers as well. They have an X-pipe that you can get with the extra outlets for the cutouts which I would recommend if you're thinking about doing the exhaust.
I currently have the switch mounted in the cigarette lighter slot as well, but have been considering moving it to another location.
Everyone at QTP is great to deal with, and they will help you out if you have any questions.
QTP makes great products, you will not be disappointed. I have their cutouts on my Camaro along with ther headers. Im getting their headers and x pipe for ZO6.
I've got the QTP's mounted right after the X-pipe/muffler joint, as it rises over the transaxle. Just enough room there and pointed down so they don't heat up the laminated "spring"(?) The motors point up and outward, and can be accessrd with the tire off. Should be able to fit this way even in a A4 since it doesn't violate the transmission space. I'm told that at least here in PA, they must be removed for inspection so I have a cap for them. A once a year hassle.
I had McCord Powerplates and had nothing but problems with them. From the initial install to the day I finally yanked the damn things out.
They had to be re-built twice, because workmanship SUCKS. Small blots vibrated loose. They tore up gears in these 1000 to 1 gear ratio. They became unsynched, one partially open the ohter closed. Melted wiring harness. Was a complete disaster. When I asked them to send me another motor or some gears, I got some kind of motor that wasn't even close to them.. I went to the open market to locate this motor and part number. When I found them in Korea (I think), they emailed back McCord was the only USA distributor - back to square one.
Thanks to a forum member, was kind enough to send me a motor off his that didn't work, when he switched from McCord to QTP. Now, they are hanging in the garage, with plugs/caps where they used to be.

mine have been nothing but problems. possibly due to a crapy job of installation. sits right below the A4 tranny pan. i'll bottom on some places, which doesn't help. also, whatever "wrap" they use on the motor keeps coming off. bolts holding the motor assembly keep coming off... im finally yanking the whole thing coming up next week and re-doing the setup.
Ragin Cajun: dou have any more pics of your install? i want to give them to my shop guys so they can mock the install... thanks bud!
