FWIW I dont recomend tubbing. the cars stability on high speed corners depends on many things. One is the cars track, or the distance between the center rear tires. The wider the track the more stable. The spacer put the wheels out 3/4". Yes there are other facters as well.
A 12" rim will fit with out the spacers or tub, but will rub the inner wheel well on a corner if the car is lowered. the 13" did not fit with out the spacer.
Wider tires are not always the best idea. Many ppl run with 315s in the rear and do just fine. Too wide a tire is not really a good idea for street use as you will feel all the cracks in the road.
