BEAUTIFULl...You're about 1.5 hours south of me. I'm coming down when this is finished and we can do mine also. See how quickly I volunteered you.

This is the nicest console mod I've seen for a screen unit in the C5.

Great work

The color goes all the way through. The ABS cement is also black, so it's pretty easy to make it look like one piece since everything sort of fuses together.

Looks factory!

I think you should start doing this for Forum members. Maybe we could get a core/exchange program going with one or two consoles from eBay or a junk yard.

Are there any problems with the wiring or mounting brackets?

I agree! I'm in the planning stage for installing a "car-puter" with nav, dvd, cd,mps, sirius radio. I could use a radio surround just like that!

Very nice, could you detail what SEM products you used? I see the texture and color being the biggest issues in doing a mod like this. Can't wait for your write up.

I used #39853 SEM Texture Coating. (It's already the correct shade of black) followed by #13023 SEM Low Luster Clear. I applied the decals before the clear coat.

You'll have to experiment with the right combination of distance and heaviness of coating to duplicate the original texture.

You would think that some vendor would just make a replacment center console that would allow for the installation of a double DIN unit and relocate the HVAC controls a little lower.

Or does this exist already..... Hmmmmm

If it does, let me know.
