Not loud - just bright. We have an '00 MY vert and an '02 Pewter vert. My wife and I both like the MY best. It just makes you smile. Even on rainy days is says sun. I was a little skeptical at first (55 year old fart in a yellow corvette) but I soon got over it. And the neighbors love it too. One good thing about MY is the safety factor - they WILL see you coming on the road. Go for it!!!
This is my second yellow Vette. I do not even like yellow on any other vehicle, but on a Vette it is the ultimate (in my opinion, of course). Go for it. You will not regret it!
Good morning folks. Thanks for all the responses overnight! LOL, I am confused as ever, but there's a lot of good logic in the responses.
The MY on eBay is 2001. That is another issue for me. I was limiting my search to 2002 and later. I think it was the year (in my observations) where the mileage of under 10k miles seemed very attainable with a price right around the lower $30k's. Now this 2001 MY comes along with about 12k miles and potentially much lower price. So a question: are there additional problems with 01's that I need to watch out for, which were fixed in later model years? AND is MY that much more rare and valuable in a resale? Thanks so much for all the input - keep it coming! Jon
Not sure most of you guys or gals know that there was a study done recently and YELLOW is replacing red as the sporty color...no more "little red corvettes". And yes I am a little partial...I bought a 2000 MY coupe new. Live for the futur go yellow.
When searching for a C5, my first two choices where Mag Red and Mil Yellow. The first car to come along that met my criteria happened to be Mag Red so that’s what I got. Mil Yellow is GREAT! If you like it go for it!! And no it’s not loud…..but this advise is coming for someone who also loves Mag Red!!!
You better jump on this deal. The black, red, white, blue and silver C5's are very common. But, an MY C5 is rarer still. Quite frankly, I personally have an MY, and, I must say that it does, indeed, capture the attention of many admirers. Not long ago, I was invited to attend a local car show city parade. Many amazing car clubs were in attendance: BMW, Cobra, Mustang, Porsche, etc.. And, when it came time for my group to slowly drive past the judges stands, the seated judges all stood up and waved to me to stop for a few moments, and, to rev up the engine for them. The crowd went wild cheering me on. The best surprise was that the club that I had helped that day won first prize from the judges. And, I was the only MY colored C5 car in the group, as well as, the most exotic painted car that day. Now, don't get me wrong, a Corvette C5 in ANY color is stunning. Just look at the numerous, and, exceptional examples that exist on this forum. Now, I must admit that when I was first shopping for my C5, I had been searching primarily for a Black, or, Le Mans Blue. However, the opportunity to purchase the stunning, and, eye catching MY came about. And, totally changed my view regarding this unique C5 color. Good luck to you in your search for a C5 that is just right for you. And, do let us know how it all turns out.
I dreamed my whole life of owning a red Vette one day. Well, when the day finally arrived (at age 51) and I saw a C5 in MY sitting at the dealership, I just couldn't resist. It is an awesome color on the C5. I'm happy with it. But, it doesn't matter what I like, or anyone else likes, you have to get what you like. Good luck. Dan
Hope you don't mind, but I just saved the photo of your car as the background on my computer. It is a twin to mine, so no one will know the difference. Great shot by the way...not to mention the super color. Dan
I wasn't aware that there was an age requirement for colors, if that's the case I should change my color to dirt.
I had a black but you couldn't keep it clean looking for an hour. Besides I can't bend down that far to clean it every 10 miles.
