Default Millenium Yellow LOUD?

I know it is up to me, but what do you guys think...is millenium yellow way too loud and does it call too much attention to the car and driver. There is a C5 in Millenium Yellow on eBay, at a location just 90 minutes away, and the bidding closes tomorrow night. I really like the mag red and le mans blue in the C5's best, then pewter. Yellow was not on my list, and in fact I was avoiding it because I don't want to stand out too much on the road, and attract hot rodders, etc. But this MY has very low mileage, sounds pristine, and has no reserve. It looks like it will go for a lot less than a 2002 pewter I could have had for $35k on Autotrader, which I considered too high. It is probably going for between $25k - $30k. Yeah, it's up to me, but I just want to hear input from you all, especially middle aged guys like myself. Thanks! Jon

I personally love the yellow... seeing a nicely modded yellow C5 coming at you on the road definately grabs your attention, but isn't that fun?

My car is black, but I love the MY on the Vette. My neighbor has an 02 MY Z06 and it is a beautiful car. Sure the color stands out, but I don't consider it loud. To me, loud speaks of obnoxious and it definitely isn't that. I would have been tempted to get an MY Z06 when I bought my Z06 last year but I thought that two of them next door to each other might get confusing.

It is a matter of personal taste, but the yellow really compliments the body lines of the C5 and it is classy as well as being a bit individualistic. The resale is also good on the MY cars...something to think about long term.

Good luck with your decision!

I never was a fan of yellow on a car period. Definately an attention getter. If it's a vert it would look better then a coupe. Seems like the only yello C5's ive seen were verts. Lou Gigliotti has a yellow 06 Z06 and it's definately the sexyness but I'd rather have had it in red or black.

You better jump on this deal. The black, red, white, blue and silver C5's are very common. But, an MY C5 is rarer still. Quite frankly, I personally have an MY, and, I must say that it does, indeed, capture the attention of many admirers. Not long ago, I was invited to attend a local car show city parade. Many amazing car clubs were in attendance: BMW, Cobra, Mustang, Porsche, etc.. And, when it came time for my group to slowly drive past the judges stands, the seated judges all stood up and waved to me to stop for a few moments, and, to rev up the engine for them. The crowd went wild cheering me on. The best surprise was that the club that I had helped that day won first prize from the judges. And, I was the only MY colored C5 car in the group, as well as, the most exotic painted car that day. Now, don't get me wrong, a Corvette C5 in ANY color is stunning. Just look at the numerous, and, exceptional examples that exist on this forum. Now, I must admit that when I was first shopping for my C5, I had been searching primarily for a Black, or, Le Mans Blue. However, the opportunity to purchase the stunning, and, eye catching MY came about. And, totally changed my view regarding this unique C5 color. Good luck to you in your search for a C5 that is just right for you. And, do let us know how it all turns out.

When I was shopping for a vert last year, I did not want a yellow car period. I saw a millenum yellow car for the first time and was shocked how "right" the yellow is compared to other yellow colors I have seen on cars. Needless to say, I have a yellow vert sitting in the garage right now. It makes a bold statement for sure, but looks classy at the same time. Black and red are a dime a dozen. Go for it.

Middle-aged opinion: too loud for me. I'll leave MY to the younger guys.

I had the same thing happen when I was looking for my vette... A really low mileage MY was for sale for a GREAT price..

I had never considered it before... and I almost talked myself into it.

but at the end of the day... Why would I (you) buy something that you have to be talked into?!?! That should be your answer right there... if you have doubts now, you will have doubts all the time..

You shouldn't have to "learn to love" the color... get what you love... not what is the easiest and cheapest..

TRUST ME!.. another vette will come along that is cheaper and/or better...

GET THE COLOR YOU LOVE!!!

Skip the MY if you don't ABSOLUTELY LOVE it 100 percent!!!

PS: if your asking us.. you already know the answer... when you find the car that is right for you.. you wont need to ask!!

When I was out looking to by a vette, the favourite colours we were looking for were, navy, mag red, torch red, and electron blue, couldn't find the right deal on any of them.

Just happenned to come across a MY low mileage vert and were able to take it out for a nice long drive (about 1 1/2 hours). We would drive, get out look at it, drive some more, go get a coffee, and look at it. The more we saw it the more we liked it. We didn't get that car but we did get a MY, with no regrets.

As a matter of fact, we have even had the discussion on what other colour would we want other than the MY and we really have to stop and think.

Go look at it and take it for a drive, you will know then if a MY is for you or not.

What year model is it? 2002 like the Pewter one you're also looking at?

And i think rarity varies by year. For instance, only 4% of the vettes in 99, import and domestic, were NBM. But yellow wasn't offered in 99.

I don't think yellow is "loud"..."bright" maybe, and I like the color.

If you want "loud"....well, buy a 98 pace car!

Another very minor negative is that bugs LOVE yellow. I have yet to see an event where all the bugs were distrated from the other cars to land on the yellow.

Your first-choice colors are all very nice, but so is a MY car. While you can see it from a long distance, it just looks very good on a C5. If you can get a great deal on that car and it checks out OK, go for it. Don't think you will be disappointed.

When a Porsche GT3 race driver comes up and says, "Damn that yellow vette is intimidating." Nuff said

I love the color. My '72 is Red and my 00 FRC is pewter (somewhat sedate).

But then again I'm only 52.

My new one WILL be yellow. My wife thinks they look like Taxi Cabs. I told her it was the fastest taxi she could ride in.
