The eBay seller of the 2001 MY is not responding to my e-mails today, so that I can see it before bidding, and his phone # is not given on the eBay page. I've read some other threads about buying sight unseen, really don't want to do that. This is too much money to risk. The auction ends tonight, so I might be outta luck. I note that the bidding is fairly active with 13 bids so far. What really interests me is that the Corvette Warehouse is the current high bidder. Do you think that indicates it is a good deal? There must be lots of money to be made if they are interested? I wonder if the activity is any indication that someone has had it checked out and it is as advertised. Darn, I wish I saw this last week instead of last night. Any thoughts? Jon
I had the same thing happen when I was looking for my vette... A really low mileage MY was for sale for a GREAT price..
I had never considered it before... and I almost talked myself into it.
but at the end of the day... Why would I (you) buy something that you have to be talked into?!?! That should be your answer right there... if you have doubts now, you will have doubts all the time..
You shouldn't have to "learn to love" the color... get what you love... not what is the easiest and cheapest..
TRUST ME!.. another vette will come along that is cheaper and/or better...
GET THE COLOR YOU LOVE!!!
Skip the MY if you don't ABSOLUTELY LOVE it 100 percent!!!
PS: if your asking us.. you already know the answer... when you find the car that is right for you.. you wont need to ask!!
I spent a year looking for my yellow one. I was tempted in the meantime with other great cars in MSG, pewter, and LMB, all of which I like. But I held out and eventually found just what I was looking for. Don't compromise on color. I've learned my lesson the hard way more than once. Hang in there until you find the right car in the color you really want.
BTW, the yellow does attract a lot of attention, I notice the looks.
At 56, i dont think i am middle aged yet. I also wanted a blue one, but i would have had to wait 6 weeks. I took the MY and will never have any thing else. It always shines and looks clean. Easy to take care of and everyone is always looking at you. You will not be sorry.
Don't get Yellow dude. The lesser Millenium Yellow Vettes on the road the better for me!
Actually seriously... if you have THREE color choices before you would pick Millenium Yellow... you should wait and get what you want. It's not like there's going to be no more Vettes for sale in two months.
Another very minor negative is that bugs LOVE yellow. I have yet to see an event where all the bugs were distrated from the other cars to land on the yellow.
Are you sure it's the Yellow? At one car show we were parked on the grass and there were thousands of some kind of tiny bugs maybe some sort of fly and they landed on most of the cars, turns out it was the wax that attracted them, especially the waxes with a sweet smell.

Quite frankly, I personally have an MY, and, I must say that it does, indeed, capture the attention of many admirers. Not long ago, I was invited to attend a local car show city parade. Many amazing car clubs were in attendance: BMW, Cobra, Mustang, Porsche, etc.. And, when it came time for my group to slowly drive past the judges stands, the seated judges all stood up and waved to me to stop for a few moments, and, to rev up the engine for them. The crowd went wild cheering me on. The best surprise was that the club that I had helped that day won first prize from the judges. And, I was the only MY colored C5 car in the group, as well as, the most exotic painted car that day. Now, don't get me wrong, a Corvette C5 in ANY color is stunning. Just look at the numerous, and, exceptional examples that exist on this forum. Now, I must admit that when I was first shopping for my C5, I had been searching primarily for a Black, or, Le Mans Blue. However, the opportunity to purchase the stunning, and, eye catching MY came about. And, totally changed my view regarding this unique C5 color. Good luck to you in your search for a C5 that is just right for you. And, do let us know how it all turns out.
I just want to close the loop on this adventure for now and thank everyone for the responses, opinions, insights!! I did not go after the car. Here is what I posted in the thread "Buying on eBay too risky?":
"Thanks everyone for all the input...still not a vette owner. I got to view the car yesterday. It took me a nearly 5 hour roundtrip to the Oregon coast and back to see the car. The car was almost perfect, just some dents and scratches on the little frame in front of the black dam under the front bumper, also obvious scrubbing on that dam and lighter scrubbing on the bumper's bottom itself. There was slightly more wear on the inside of the front tires, but that looked normal to me. I ran it, but did not drive due to the rain. Very nice car otherwise. My concern was over the MD plate still on it. It was not registered or titled here in OR. The seller (very nice) said he'd do whatever it takes to clear the paperwork. Still that unsettled me.
So in the end, as we all do, I went with my gut feeling. I was not sure about the paperwork transfer, and the car did not jump out at me...no love at first sight! As noted before, MY is not my personal first choice. That all led me to make no bid on eBay. I received much helpful input from all of you, which helped me to make the decision, no regrets. I learned a lot. The HUNT continues, which is all part of the fun!!!! Jon"
You all were a big help in coming to my decision. Thanks kindly. Jon
