My stock AMG lasted 44 months before finally quitting on me.
I recently installed Sylvainia Silverstar low beams and in the process of aiming the lights the battery drained down pretty quickly. It barely turned over, but did start. I also noticed that some DIC and HUD settings had changed also due to the low voltage. So, I suspected the battery was on its last legs.
Yesterday after some final tweaking of the headlight aiming, the battery wouldn't turn over. Just clicked.
Drove to Advance Auto and purchased an Optima red top and now all is well. Oh, and the Silverstars are a nice improvement over the stock bulbs. Especially when aimed properly.
My factory AGM battery lasted less than two years. Fine one day, totally dead the next morning ... wouldn't even click. The only sign of life was rapidly a dimming underhood light. I also bought an Optima Red Top ... the "larger" one.
I just replaced my battery also--Feb 2002 build date. It died last Saturday. I replaced it with the Optima Red Top from Costco. I appreciate all the advice for this on this forum.
