Default Can I keep her?

An '01 MY coupe followed me home today (o.k., so i was behind the wheel). It fit in the garage that I had been preparing, so I figure I'll keep it. (have to be a member to post pics?).
FAR from my original idea of a c4 for around $7k-$9K to toy around with. Oh, And man, the original ad, didn't call out ANY options. So I thought I was getting a plan jane vette. Man, this had the 3.15 diff, Hud, Bose sound, memory package, two tops! Dude was I happy.
So, this is my first vette. And, I am 6' tall, 255lbs. Not fat. Just built like a line backer. Everyone always calls me, 'big mike'. I now know why...
As soon as I got into it, I was like... MAN, THIS SUCKS... but I was determined to make it work. After about 50 miles of feeling like I was being folded in half, I finaly figured out the 'recline seat' leaver. Man, did a huge weight of worry get lifted from my shoulder. (does anyone else drive in non-reclined mode?). I have to move the seat to the extent, but it fits. I am SOOO glad I didn't get a manual becuase I would not be able to move around in this car to press the clutch, and constantly shift. If I sit still, I'm o.k. Putting on the seat belt alone is a hassle. Any other linebackers out there experience this?
I ended up getting a 4 year-100K mile warranty from the dealer for 1.7k. I was shooting for warrantydirect, but magoo's (the inspector for warranty direct) had sent a guy out there that didn't have any experience with c5s. He dinged it with, "Engine rattle". I heard some rattle, but it was normal c5 valvetrain noise and you really had to listen for it. He also dinged it for noisey AC blower motor. Man, I couldn't here anything wrong with it. Oh, and you'll love this. He said in his report, "Missing ashtray insert". I opened the ashtray hood, and there it was. What was he looking at, the drink holder??? Guys, I dont know about ya'll but I am plenty dissapointed with magoos ability to get a qualified inspector for vettes. But that WILL be another thread. I called warranty direct and told them the story. All they said was, There the best, and we dont use anyone else, and you need to work this issue out with them. Magoos... I'm very dissapointed with you.
The only issue I believe I have is the twilight sentinal. Turned on, the lightes come on in daylight. I haven't played with it too much though. Is this a common problem? That's the only problem I have... everything else is perfect, (except for that 'second' asstray).

Congrats on picking up the Vette

You can turn the Twilight Sentinel off via the DIC in "options". Thats assuming its a US spec not a Canadian spec car.

I am a 6' 1" 210LB, old linebacker that picked-up a 2000FRC this past November...it's a MN6. It took awhile to get the set up right--but Lord is this a fun car.

Enjoy your ride

Oh, you can post pictures within your message by signing up at photobucket.com (its free) and uploading pictures to that sight. Then simply right-click on the picture that you uploaded to photobucket and choose "properties." Highlight the address (i.e. http://www, etc, etc) in the box that comes up under properties and hit "ctrl-c" to copy it. When you post your message here, "Go Advanced" and use the little icon that has a mountain on it and says "insert image" when you hove the pointer over it. click it once, then insert the address your copied by using "ctrl-v" in the box that comes up. Hit enter, and your picture is inserted!

Oh, and always hit "Preview Post" first to make sure that your picture was inserted or you will get a lot of these.....

Welcome aboard!

Being 6'2" tall and weighing in at a few more than 255 lbs, (I was a lineman) the VERY first thing I reach for in most cars is the recline lever... If I don't, my big head doesn't fit in thru the door... Ok, so my stomach gets in the way too but...

Congrats on the car... I love MY!!

BTW, I'm able to handle the clutch in mine just fine... You can't tip the wheel vertical like I prefer, but it works fine and my knees fit below it. Gotta love a MN6.

6ft 230lbs and yes it took a couple days of adjusting but it fits like a glove now and I cant imagine ever not having one in the garage from now on.

My next goal in about 4 years is a 2006 or 2007 used Z06 taking its place.
