Default 300mph C5???

I just received the “Sneak Peek” catalog for the upcoming Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale, AZ (mid January 2006). Lot #1335.1 is a 2002 C5 with a 427 Lingenfelter Stage 4 TT 6-speed coupe. Description claims 992hp and estimated top speed of 300mph. I can believe the 992hp. But is that car really capable of 300mph? I thought it was more in the neighborhood of 240mph to 250mph???

It will be interesting to see what it goes for. Any guesses? My guess is around $80K.

Wow that things probably a monster but still dont think it could hit 300 MPH. It probably has the 300 MPH export gauge cluster. That would be awesome if someone could actually bury that. Even better- bury that in the 1/4 mile!

Not even if it's dumped out the back of a C-130 at 10,000 feet.

There are a few of those cars around with Lingenfelter twin turbo 427's but 300 mph i dont think so. the New Bugatti quad turbo only puts out 1000hp and 253 mph. But the Vette is sexier

I dont thnkit would do 250 but what do I know. I would guess that car only brings around $70k. Sooner or later all the money at Barret will slow down ...when it does the newer modded cars willtake the hit first.
There are some cool cars in there..... I assume this is the same issue that came with the new Hemmings?

I saw the same preview over the weekend. It's an '03 coupe with the Pace Car graphics - I think the decals are worth at least 25 - 30 mph at the top end.....

I would think its possible. LPE puts out 800hp C5R motors that top out around 230-250ish. If you would put a TT or a maggie on it you would have a beast. Alot would depend on what gears you were running also. To do 300mph the car would have to have some major body mods to hold it to the ground. I think the stock body is only rated to 200mph. This is only an opinion take it for what its worth.

You'd probably have to double the horsepower to achieve the additional 60mph, because of drag horsepower becomes inversely proportional to speed.

I think that's rated 199...or was it 299...well either way it wasn't rated to 300hp..I think you have to go park bench at that point.

Seriously doubt the car will hit 300 mph even with that HP.
