I almost like my interior more than the exterior

5speed...

I saw an '86 at a Vette shop in Alexandria, VA that I go to. Strange thing though, it has been 're-skinned' in C5 exterior!

I thought it was a unique looking Mag Red C5 with a decent looking wing out back, but when I saw the interior, I was just

He had a custom interior to match the color scheme. When I asked the guy, "Why not just buy a C5?" he replied that he loved the stock C4 exhaust note, and the stock C5 doesn't have it.

He has a point, but I believe a C5 exhaust would be easier to change than a C4 exterior!

By the way, thanks, guys, for all the input. I love my car, and will, someday, enhance the appearance and the performance. I guess I just needed a boost to get my future hopes back into perspective.

I have a black/black coupe and agree with you! Far too much black. Not much fun in the heat of the summer.

Best thing about the interior is the stick in one hand and the wheel in the other, a total blast!

I completely agree with the OP, and actually just mentioned it in the 'what do you like about the C6' thread. My previous 2 cars were german and even though 1/3 the price of a new C5, the interiors were much nicer. It reminds me of my dad's TrailBlazer - just big, oval, cheap plastic buttons. For the early model C5s it was probably on par with most other interiors out there, but the fact they didn't make any significant changes to it for 7 years makes it horribly outdated by 02+.

I know that the interior isn't as unique or flashy as some cars. I look at it as a compromise between price and the technology in the engine, suspension, etc. It's like a few of the responses above, steering wheel in one hand, shifter in the other, go fast pedal to the floor and eyes on the road. Don't really care much about anything else Hell, I don't even play the stereo so it doesn't matter what it sounds like. My GHL Bullets are music to my ears

Wow! Love the fantastic custom C5 interior eye candy on this thread! And, as you can see by some of these examples (see Randys' beautiful grey and black trim leather seats above), VE offers the Corvette C5 aficionado the opportunity to truly customize the interior. And, you can really compliment the esthetic appeal of your C5 with such a visual and custom signature to your Vette. Good luck to you.

The VE interior is not some fragile show piece, it's an extemely high quality, well designed and durable leather that will not wear like the O.E.M. stuff does on the bolsters. And, as I eluded to in my first post - the smell of high quality Italian leather is absolutely intoxicating!
That’s a stunning interior!!

The interior does create less excitement than the exterior but I have to admit I like my interior. When I was looking for a sports car to buy I thought the C5 had the best interior of the ones I saw. In fact I was set on a nsx but the nsx's interior was a disappointment after sitting in the C5.

Love that HUD.

I love the C5's exterior, but the instrument cluster was also a selling point for me.

The stock interior is nothing to get excited about. Too much plastic, and seats with lousy leather. Had it pumped up a notch by Caravaggio!

When I impulsively bought my first corvette, it certainly wasn't because of the interior. I could probably care less. It just looks so good from some angles that it makes you look back again and again.

I love the interior! Simple and raw like a Corvette is supposed to be. And the heads up display and cluster is freakin' great! Like nothing else under $40k.

Sure if you're unhappy then come up with some bucks and buy a new interior if you want. Seats start falling apart... upgrade! Pitch black interior got you bored... color matched shift and brake boots!

One trick is I keep mine INTENSELY clean. There's nothing worse than those all black interiors starting to turn gray. You to bust out the polish every once in a while!
