I really like the exterior looks of the C5, especially when they're moving. Every time I see one on the road, I stare in amazement, basking in the glory.
That said, I notice a different feeling when I'm driving mine. I think the interior kind of takes away from my excitement. I have a Blk/Blk coupe, and there is nothing particularly exciting about the interior. Sometimes I forget how gorgeous the car is from the spectator's point of view, until I see my reflection in some window or tanker truck!
I know that there are some custom interior treatments out there, but for you folks that have gone that route, does your interior stir you up every time you drive it?
BTW, I've got 2.5 years to pay mine off, so I can't commit to any appearance mods yet, but I do plan to play as soon as I pay!
No, I don't think you're alone. The interior is not anything to write home about. But please don't forget the outside, and don't forget the seat of the the pants feeling when you want it to move! That's what creates the perma-grin!

I finally got the V.E. interior that I dreamt of back in May. Does it "stir me up" every time I drive it? It stirs me up when it's parked in the garage with the top down - and 7 months later I can still smell that great leather!
I recently drove the car to Vegas from Phoenix - and the new foam on the seats with the new skins, and the new steering wheel really make the car look and feel special to me.
When I park it with the top down at the weekly show and shine I attend - I continue to receive a lot of very positive comments and people asking if it's okay to touch it.... I check that their hands are clean and their nails are trimmed to the appropriate length - and then I allow a light caress!

I somewhat agree. I have the same feeling.....I like the interior of my vette, but it doesn't convey the excitement that looking at the exterior does. On the other hand I think the same thing could be said about many other cars on the road. My Vette is totaly stock.

I agree with the 'seat of the pants feeling' you're talking about. I kept my foot in it this weekend!
Something about that WOT thrust and the look of "I just KNOW I can catch you!" on the faces of would-be passers-by.
But that's not my problem. I want to feel as much excitement while sitting inside my baby as when I see the outside of someone else's!

Save your money and buy the best!
Your post gives me hope! One important question though... is yours a daily driver, or even a 'frequent driver' or a 'fair weather toy?'

I would have to agree with you on this. I LOVE watching other Vette's go down the road and sometimes wish I could see my own vert cruising down the highway but when you're driving it, that's nearly impossible. But that's why cruising with a couple of other vettes is so fun, you get to see them all the time!! I've done a few minor appearance mods to my interior - not more than $300 worth and I feel it has really added to the look and feel of the interior.
Since this pic I've added the aluminum gauge bezels (off ebay for $85) - so along with the steering wheel and passenger air bag decals and Lloyd floor mats - the interior makes me smile almost as much as the exterior. (almost)

It's not a daily driver - but a frequent driver. I drive it once or twice during the week and the whole weekend as a rule. I live in Phoenix so just about every day is "fair weather"!
Here's a pic.....
The VE interior is not some fragile show piece, it's an extemely high quality, well designed and durable leather that will not wear like the O.E.M. stuff does on the bolsters. And, as I eluded to in my first post - the smell of high quality Italian leather is absolutely intoxicating!

Have you ever seen the interior of a Ferrari or Lotus? Very plain, just the necesaties. These Corvettes do so many things so well we forget they are sports cars not luxery cars

EDIT:::::
You gotta do some personalizing mods IMHO.
WIT2PZ- IMHO, consider the simple feature that your speedo goes to 200 mph.... I know the cars can do around 180 :o I have people laugh in excitment when they see the 200. But just consider how many cars you see on the road are even capable of doing half that... safely.
Awesome Randy I love seeing stuff like that... Hanging around here is like one stop shopping!

I love my interior.
The general contour of the dash, passenger "grab-handle," gauges, and the rest, to me, look "cooler" than the newer version.
When I was a little kid sitting in the driver's seat of my parent's '58 Pontiac I pretended like I was in the cockpit of a jet-fighter. In my Corvette with the HUD and all, I get that feeling all over again...

I felt the same way about mine. It had an all black interior and just looked plain to me. I went the Vette Essentials route and have not regretted it for one minute. Great quality product, outstanding customer service and the difference in looks that it made is amazing. If you are wanting to really spice up your car, this is a way to go. And yes, even after four years of having the new interior in my car, I still love getting in the car and driving it.
