Default Consumer Bias

I was in the Supermarket tonight and just for heck of it I picked up Consumer Reports just to see if the "Buying Guide" had some kind of objective write up on the Corvette. (why I even bothered is still beyond me ) I don't know about you guys but I think that consumers is extremely biased esp when it comes to auto's. The write up on the Corvette went something like "The ride is comfortable, and handling is capable but less agile than other sports cars". ??? First off, I'm not a fan of consumers reports when it come to autos, I like the reports from C&D's long term tests as well as the long term tests from Popular Mechanics but my opinion is that bascially that CR won't grade an American Car highly simply because its an American Car. What the heck do they know about Sports Cars anyway?? Anyway, just felt like venting since I don't think the American Manufacturers are being given a fair shake.

I don't know what index they use...

... each car is made different from the next. As long as mine runs, I'm happy.

CR ain't what it use to be! I had a subscription last year but no more. Also they just sent me the 2006 buying guide, what a waist of time, most products in it were old, no ratings on many products, and just plain worthless.
Also, besides my subscription payment last year they had the nerve to ask me for a donation

I think you're right. They were good at one time but they have really gone down hill. What gets me is the "predicted reliability" decree. Predicted by who, based on what?

CR has been going down hill for decades! That's right, I started reading it as a kid. My mother used to get them.

In the 70's, they blasted "mini bikes". They found some hokey model, antique engine model, where you wrap a loose cord, around the pully to start the engine. Said minibikes were unsafe, because of exposed pullys.

They are totally biased against American cars. They totally ignored the Ford Excursion, for years, because it was "too big".

They are like the liberal media, bent on social engineering, not fairly evaluating products.

God Bless America!

Glad to see that I'm not the only person who thinks that way. If they want to regain any credibility they better take a good long look at themselves.....their BIAS is showing.

Wanna buy a toaster? Check Consumer Reports Magazine.

Wanna buy a car? Check CAR magazines...

'Nuff said.

If you are looking for info on bread makers, can openers, blenders, toasters and stuff like that... they have valuable input.

Found them to be way to biased on a lot of things.

Have not/ will not use their junk magazine.

HAMMER TIME so if you dont agree with the assessments, that makes their opinions worthless ? now thats an anti-American attitude if i ever heard one! thats a small part of the reason why we fell behind, cant face the truth, even when its staring us down........ last time i checked, at the end of the day,the Corvette is still just a machine, just like the other appliances that CR rates.

Their car ratings can be completely opposite to what the included text about a car says. I remember reading an issue a few years back where the text of an article was talking about all the positive qualities of the Corvette but the actually car rating was a complete thumbs down.
