I drive mine everyday (as long as the roads aren't covered in snow or ice). 56k miles and loving it!
I've used a 'Vette as a DD for 99% of my seat time since 1988.
- 1988 Coupe (Auto) - 54,000 DD miles
- 1992 Coupe (M6) - 157, 000 DD miles
- 2002 Coupe (M6) - 70,000 mostly DD miles
If this is going to be your only car and the environment allows you to drive it on a daily basis (i.e., MINIMAL...and I mean minimal snow/slush...NO ice), go for it!
Thanks for all the replies. Sounds like the DDs are the majority, at least of those who replied. I live in central Illinois, so ice and snow can be a problem, but depends on the winter and usually doesn't last too long. I live in a small town and don't have to drive around with my job, so most days my daily driver is a bike or my two feet. Thanks again for your input. I'm itching to get a C5.
Mine is a daily driver too, even in light snow (as long as it's not more than 2 or 3 inches) I drive a 50 mile round trip to work everyday in it, and in total I drive about 18-20k per year. I run Pirelli P Zero Nero M&S tires on it, which do very well in light snow.
I bought my '04 coupe in April of '04 and now have 62,000 miles on it. I live in PA and drive a '98 Explorer during the winter months but other than that I drive the Vette as much as I possibly can.
I bought my 98 just before summer this year and it was a DD up until 12 days ago. Now I'm in an old civic until March for the most part. I'll break the Vette out for "Indian Summers" or a day or so after a decent rain washes away the salt. Actually took it out for a couple of hours today and it felt like the first day I got it.
