Default Cam & Head ?

I have an o4 Z16. I was looking to go the Magnacharger route, but buying a new hood and decals package plus maggie was a steep price tag. Who makes the best performance cam & head package for the buck and still be a normal street driver until I put my foot into it?

Is 450RWHP out of the question?

Let me know what your thoughts are.

Lots of people have gone the head/cam route, and have been unsatisfied with the results. To acheive 450 rwhp is very doable , but often torque suffers somewhat, along with drivability. It's about 2500-7000 for this mod, with mixed results, unless you're near a reputable tuner. I'm going with FI, myself, either an A&A, or ECS centri type. Also will need a good tune, but will acheive at least 500 rwhp, and not change drivability, or even mileage driven normally. If I can DIY, costs about 5500-7500 complete. No hood needed.

OTOH, the lopey cam sound is pretty cool!

What do you mean by A&A and ECS? I like the Maggie for ease and clean look, but I must change my hood due to the increased supercharger hieght. The procharger looks real busy and crowed under the hood, but I wouldn't have to change my hood. I see guys on the forum posting some high 400ish numbers with heads, cam, headers and tune mods.

i think those are tuners that put in their own packages.......east coast or andy at a&a. i have a maggie, love it. as far as the hood, i get compliments on it everywhere i go, stock hoods are a dime a dozen, 100.00 on e bay......good luck

A&A Corvettes is a forum vendor that not only installs/tunes builds complete packages, but sell a complete matched Vortech, Paxton, or Procharger setup. These are re-designed kits, much improved over the years, and containing matching components. They are in CA. East Coast Supercharging does much the same work, at comparable quality and prices. They are in NY ( I think). If you click one of the links to your left there's lots more info. Also, check the FI/Nitrous section of this forum for lots of good info. There's nothing wrong with the Magnason SC, but the centri types are cheaper, don't require a new hood, and boost comes on later in the rev range, which helps the already traction-challenged Corvette get the most of the added HP.

Does it have to be a Magnacharger? A Procharger does not require a new hood. If you want to go the head and cam route, I would not buy a package. I would by pieces separately. The AFR 205's provide a nice gain for approx. $2623.00. For the cam, I would call Comp "CAM HELP" and talk to a technician about what kind of driving you do, and what mods. you have and are planning. This will give you the best selection and you won't end up unhappy. The cam, valvesprings, pushrods and retainers should cost approx. $950.00. If you do the install yourself, these are your costs. There will be some miscellaneous expenses for some tools, coolant, gaskets, bolts etc. 450rwhp should be obtainable. Dyno tuning will run approx. $500.00 after all is said and done.

Default www.synergymotorsports.net

Synergy has a Z06 daily driver running on 91, cam only, with a moderate cam, doing 440 rwhp and 417 rw torque. This and similar numbers have been done several times by Synergy and by Cartek. Enough said, tens can only. Add good heads, cake walk.
