Default Napa rotors?

Napa told me $57 a piece for their drilled/slotted rotors with AAA discount. Are they worth using or are they junk? Also, are Napa break pads any good? What kind of material? I usually use semi-metallic pads on my fleet of cars.

Use the napa stock rotors....or maybe slotted if you need some bling. Drilled seem to crack after a given time.

But the stock rotors should be half that, and that's what a lot of the racers use, cheap and good.

I have the stock ones on my C5 @ $25 each...they can't be beat...do yourself a favor and paint the hats and the veins or they will rust on you...

Slots are better then drilling as the drill holes tend to crack (unless you buy VERY expensive rotors...)

I've always used NAPA pads for all my vehicles and they hold up really well. I haven't had to replace the ones on my Vette yet but I put a set of NAPA ceramic pads on my Toyota pickup about a year and a half ago and they still look almost new, plus no brake dust on the wheels. I know lots of guys say not to use ceramics on the C5 if you plan to run it on the track so you may want to keep that in mind depending on your driving habits.

Good tips, thanks. Having no brake dust is definately an advantage that I'm willing to invest in.

Good tips, thanks. Having no brake dust is something I feel is worth investing in as long as the stopping is comparable to semi metallic pads. Sounds like I'm gonna be doing brakes tomorrow! Should be a fun project.

Same here with the ceramic pads. Stopping is not an issue on the street, I would not use the ceramic pads on a roadcourse.

Got my stock rotors and ceramic pads from Napa. It came to $170 out the door for the fronts with a can of break clean and engine degreaser. The pads were spendier than I expected (85 bucks), but hell I ain't complaining. The rotors were 35 bucks. I'm gonna tackle the front brakes tonight and paint the calipers. I'll check the rears and see what's up with them after the first test drive.

Not that I'm gonna be on a road course any time soon, but why not use ceramics if you are going to road course it?

I am sure Bob (16Again) will provide a more concise answer...but I want to say ceramics don't bite like semi-metallic pads do, and on a road corse where you will apply the breaks a lot more in corners etc...you need a pad that can grab well to allow control. They may also generate more heat while stopping and cause brake fade to occur.

Bob - help me out here!
