Default Quick LED Tail Light Question

I just got off the phone with Midamerica and they said that the LED tail lights will make the turn signals flash really fast and there was nothing to fix this problem. I remember reading on here that they will start flashing normal within 30 minutes. Is this true? I'm about to place a order with them but I don't wanna spend $349 and the turn signals to flash really fast. Please help me out here! Thanks!

I think the LED gurus said you can fit resistors to fix that problem

Maybe try a search for some old threads. Its been covered before.

Default LED Tail Lights are on there way!:)

Ok I just ordered a set of LED Tail Lights from Midamerica http://www.madvet.com/shop?frame=1.249.7021 Can somebody who has these exact tail lights tell me whether the fast blinking turn signal can be fixed? The guy at Midamerica said that he didn't think it could be fixed but, I could return them as long as I did not install them. That's why I thought I would post a thread so I would be 100% sure!

Any information will be greatly appreciated!

Post some pics too

I've seen these several sets in person and I don't remember them blinking fast?
I thought they can with resistors built in?

I suspect the guy on the other end of the phone was either not sure exactly what you meant, or he just didn't know for sure and opted to say what he did.

Yeah I thought they did too. He understood me correctly because he said that they had them on a couple of their cars and he said they all blinked fast. I can always send them back but if I put them on my car and they start blinking really fast on don't stop I'm stuck with them. I would rather them blink normally. Any help or advise will be greatly appreciated!

I just got a set from Ecklers number 39264. Before I bought, I talked to their tech; he says the lights now come with the resister built into the back of the housing. When I got the lights, they came with this cool looking finned aluminum box on the back. It took about 10 minutes to install; they work perfect. I'm even looking for reasons to use my turn indicators now. Good luck!

There two ways to do it ........first cheap way is to buy some 50 watt 6 ohm resistors on eBay .$20..they are listed as "load resistors" and wire them in parallel with the led's so you draw the normal current and your C5 will blink at the normal rate.

The neat way is the pigtail shown in the following thread

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...ed&forum_id=53

from adjureinc.com

They don't normally sell just the pigtail & flasher but if you contact them it can be done.$50 (I made Amber LED Euros that they don't sell)

You could buy the LED'S from them and the pigtail & electronic flasher are included $530

The pigtail installs in the Dash above the drivers knee in can be a PITA the first time

I have the part number for the flasher & pigtail somewhere
PM if you want it

These LED lights should come with the resistor built in to each tailight. If there is a large finned heat sink attached to each light they need no other resistor.

Mine look identical to the ones in Mid Americas book but they don't show a picture of the back of them so I don't know if they are. I got mine off of E-Bay. They were called Halo LED's.

Also look at each light. The are left and right specific and according to the installation directions this will make a difference in the flash rate. Each connection needs to be firmly seated as well. If one is not seated correctly they will flash fast. Check them. Use tape at the connectors to keep them in place.

Finally, when I installed mine and tried them for the first time they flashed very fast. I started the car and they were fine. The LED's are very picky about low voltage. Occassionally they will flash fast with the engine off but work fine with the engine running.

I bought mine from Mid America at Funfest and they flash at the same speed the old ones did.

I've heard that you must make sure the plug is pushed all the way into the bulb's socket or they will flash fast. Push firmly when you plug them in.

I got mine from there, but i got 10% off and free shipping from the Carlisle show. If you check e-bay you can get the same ones for $100 less.

They do not blink fast, they have a load built into them, they are plug and play.

Adjure's pigtail adapter works great with the LED's I bought from Ledtronics. I bought just the pigtail and went to Auto Zone and bought my own EL-12 flasher.

I got my LED (halo) tail lights off ebay for $184.00. They look great, work great and DO NOT blink fast. The shipping took 5 days and the install took 10 minutes. Buy these.

I got my LED Tailights off Ebay too. The first 10 seconds they did flash rapidly but applying the brake a few times fixed the problem. They have been fine ever since.
