Some of their services are pretty good. I've got emergency road service on my car insurance and it has never failed me. Cost is like $6 every six months. They just don't provide the discounts on hotels, maps, etc.

we have the basic aaa membership; don't know about the rest of you but in this neck of the woods, murphy's law comes at the worst possible time. aaa is a small price to pay for some small peace of mind. bub

I have to say their trip discounts are a joke. Just get a travel agent. I have never been quoted a lower price on any trip I have ever gone on.

Disney, NCL, Canada, etc. NEVER

They are a car service not a travel.

Even when calling directly to a AAA diamond hotel, they drop the price like 20 bucks a night compared to thier daily rate.

I've been a AAA member for 25+ years and it's paid off in tows and in dead battery starts.

Additionally, you get great maps, etc. from their travel department and get discounts at hotels.

Also, if you're WITH someone else whose car has died or who's locked their keys in the trunk or whatever, your AAA membership covers that too. This recently happened with me.

A friend and I were playing golf and afterwards dumbo put the clubs in the trunk and then remembered the keys were in the golf bag. Duh. I called AAA and said we needed to get into the trunk for the keys, etc. It was a rental (they didnt' ask questions) and it took like 20 mins for a truck to come and jimmy open the door, then pop the trunk button.

I think it's "insurance" well worth the cost annually.

Definately worth the money to get the upgraded service. I'll stop for people stuck on the side of the road and get them towed for free!! AAA is the best $100 I spend every year!! How else can you get three free tows for up to a 100 miles each for that?!?!?!? I use them every year, one way or another. Good luck!!

I would say its well worth the investment. I've just joined the ownership club with an 04Z, and the first thought I had was to join AAA. As far as response times go, we need to keep in mind that it's not 911 we are dialing for a police, fire or medical emergency...although it might feel that way

We have AAA and alos use AAA for auto and homeowners insurance. Their rates/coverage on insurance have been the best in TX by far and haven't gone up like the commercial companies.

I have AAA Plus and even with the Plus coverage, they told me that requesting a flatbed tow would be an extra charge. Anyone had experience with that?

$47/year???? I just checked their website and they want $54 for me and $21 for my wife. And this is the basic plan. The plus plan came to over $100. I'm wondering if the charges are based on where you live.....

Well worth it. I have used the road side assistance on a number of occassions. Plus, their travel services are excellent.

Have had it for years. Extended Mileage is great also. You can use it for someone else also. When at the track 90 miles from home a friend blew the head gasket on his blown Mustang. I used my AAA (can do that if you were "with them") to have him towed the 100 miles home. Cost me nothing and really helped out a friend!
