Not sure whether this is the place to post, but I'm considering attending a 2 or 3 day driving school. ....
A couple of months ago, I read an article/review in a travel magazine (AAA or RCI, I don't recall which) about a school somewhere near Charlotte NC that used C5s. I believe they also gave you the option of driving your own.

It is well worth the investment.
I attended Bragg-Smith (now know as Spring Mountain) a couple years ago. Here's an overview: Bragg-Smith Overview I had so much fun that I am going again. The first time was all manual trannies, this time is for the automatic experience (since I am an automatic kind of guy). Gonna learn the automatic tricks.
check out http://www.corvettedrivingschool.com/ Attended this 2 day school last march. Was incredible. The staff is great. You will learn so much about how the car handles how to drive.
Henry is also tied to the 2 fast 2 furious movie and he can really drive. After a day of driving yourself it is a treat to be in the car with Henry. After a lap or 2 of almost 140-150 into the corners he tells you it is only about 70% of what he normally does since you are in the car.
From: the GOCC are everywhere, even back from "band camp"

This is the school I was referring to. Funny thing, just past the flag stand on the front straight is a quick right / left referred to as "Corvette Corner". Speed was never a problem with the Mustangs, when they switched to Corvettes they added the corners in the interest of safety. Really a great experience.

Corvette Corner was added because the old configuration was too fast heading over the hill. So yes, it was added for safety reasons, but does not reflect the handling of either the Corvette or Mustang We do not use Corvette Corner when we do hot laps whether it be in a Corvette, Mustang (yes we still have some around), or Cadillac CTS, but that is for pure excitement and is being done by an instructor. Anyone who has been here will tell you that Corvette Corner is an awesome corner for learning proper braking, heel/toe downshifting, and hand movement.
Me and a friend of mine signed up for the week of April 24. Maybe we'll see someone there from the forum. Wanted to go sooner, but too much going on at work. Now I've got a reason to hit the treadmill a little more often, because I'm told it's so much fun I'll be exhausted after 3 days.

Keep those cars in one piece, will 'ya? My brother, father and I just signed up for Spring Mountain May 1-3.
BTW, I just saw that they should've taken delivery of a new Z06 in December, and more new Vettes (of undisclosed body style) are arriving this month.
I was told that although you are assigned a vehicle when you arrive, they will let you drive a new one just to see how they handle. Since I have an '04 6mn, that's what I want to drive in the class. BTW, I've a Magnetic Red coupe.
As I was told that we put about 300 miles on them in the 3 days, and that they are probably ridden pretty well, I wonder whether they replace the tires, etc.

300 miles is pretty standard in a 3 Day Level 1 class. Brakes and tires are checked daily and changed regularly as needed. Cars are well maintained. If you need hints on maintenance just ask Dave or Vic because they have had lots of experience
This year I decided not to put the car away for the winter. I couldn't stand the thought of seeing it covered up in the third stall waiting for spring (IL). And I lucked out, in that there have been enough nice days to take it for a spin now and then. I am usually very conservative with my cars, but last spring I had a cam/springs installed, long tube headers, and zo6 exhaust. Totally different vette, and an envy of my friends. One day I will figure out how to post a pic.
