Not sure whether this is the place to post, but I'm considering attending a 2 or 3 day driving school. I have researched a few, but don't want to mention them. I don't want to name any so we don't compare the good ones vs. the not so good ones. I'm just looking for opinions as to whether they are generally worth the cost considering the potential benefits. I can't wait to experience what the car is capable of, and I want to do it to add to the fun of owning my C5.
From: the GOCC are everywhere, even back from "band camp"
No idea where you are, but last summer I attended the school that uses yellow and oak Corvettes. I took the three day school and had a blast. Left there a much better driver and eligible for my SCCA Regional license. My wife took a one day at the same time and also enjoyed it, plus she sweats less on my track days. I think it was worth every penny, and hope to go back this summer for a two day refresher. I would recommend doing it.

I'll be doing Spring Mountain in the spring (no pun intended from what other members have shared, this is a worthwhile experience. Since they specialize with a fleet of Vettes, it makes sense. 3 day course by the way. The only way to truly get the most out of our cars is to learn what the limits are in a sensible envirnoment IMHO And the only way to do that is at a school
A bunch of us NE members are already booked at Spring Mountain for April 10,11, and 12. If you call them they'll send you a free DVD, its a very cool DVD. I also went to a high speed driving school with the Cumberland County Corvette Club at the Ponono's, and am also going to Watkins Glen this spring with the PDA. I 'm sorry to ramble on, but I guess my point is just go to one and try it out. Be warned though, it can become addicting.
As George mentioned we got a group of people together for Spring Mountain. It will be fun because we all know each other and we will be learning a ton about the vette.
You might want to see if you can do the same thing. You need about 13 driviers.
Thanks for all of the feedback. I am scheduled for SpringMountain this April. And being based in Illinois, I am itching to get on the track. I will post on my experience.
Bob Bondourant, they used to use Mustang Cobras as their race cars, but now they use C5's and Z06's......hhhmm, I wonder why? Couldn't be due to a handling issue, could it?
