Default Road Rage - MINE!

I guess this is sort of a confession to get it of my chest. Tonight on the way home from not the best day at work, I was in a merge lane and the guy next to me wouldn't let me get in and almost drove me off the road.
So instead of being the bigger man, I put on the brakes, went around the other side and used the 450+ RWHP to snake around him and get in front anyways.

Very childish. This much power on the street needs better judgement. I know I confirmed a stereotype of a hot head in a fast car for those who witnessed it, then again, the person right behind me might've felt like "right on" ! The guy wouldn't even get next to me on the next red light, still - I should've had better common sense. I leave my racing to the track or strip but I lost it tonight. Anyway, I feel better now that I let it out.

He's lucky it was you driving!!! I would have went one step further. I would have gotten in front of him and nabbed the brakes (closing the range rate at a rapid velocity just enough to make him slam on his brakes and then use my 450 hp to open the range rate!
Yea , yea,,, yea I know,,, bad corvette driver!

I second that.

Pio get yourself to the track or an High Perfromance Drivers Event, Not a drag race but road racing. Why ?? almost everyone who goes and spends several days a year on the track gets the high speed high power thrill of what it is really like to drive a 400+ HP corvette in a safe place.

Then when back on the street / highway your speeds and ego slow down to allow those A-Holes to just Go away.

Your better then they are, dont stoop to that low of a level.

Guys my Father drives like this.... and he just totaled his brand new 2005 Musatng GT after never having an accident his whole life.. He almost killed both of us....

You really increase your chances of having a catastrophic event, when you do things like this.. You could take the life of yourself, or other innocent people around you.. And your car could be toast..
Is it worth risking all of that, just to teach the guy a lesson?..
If you ended up losing control, and losing a leg, and killing two other inoocent people, yet the original guy you were pissed at ended up leaving the scene without a scratch to his car.. Wouldnt that suck?

Its just not worth it..

We (as males in general) can really do some stupid stuff, when we are angry and the adrenaline kicks in.. ANGER, a super light fiberglass car, and 405+ hp is a VERY dangerous combination... You're not thinking when you have rage.. You're just re-acting.. And that can get you killed.. You cant let this happen.. You have to force yourself to keep your composure and remember that you are literally driving a lethal weapon.

Believe me, this is coiming from the stereotypical "hot-head with a fast car" type of 30 something year old guy... I have done some pretty crazy things while driving in rush hour traffic.. But in the last year, I have finnally come to my senses.. Its just not worth the risk... Especially if you have a family!

Becareful everyone!
Enjoy your cars but dont drive with a Vendetta!

You did not confirm the stereotype I worry about most. The worst one is the guy who does something irresponsible, but then tries to justify it by saying I'm only driving the car like it was intended to be driven or I had a right to teach that guy a lesson. There may be people out there who would not react as you did, occasionally, but I am not one of them. When I respond as you did it does feel good momentarily, but I sober up later and resolve to do better. I think I am getting better as my respect for the Z grows and my own self-respect.

Anger, frustration, and fast cars do not mix well.

Purvis, what happened that you crashed?

So you were doing 2 +- MPH? I don't see a big issue with wanting to get over and making way to do so if it's not soemthing you are donig just to get ahead of someone. I would not risk my vette in that situation but no one is likely going to get killed, geesh! Please people. That's just the a guy making his way into the flow of traffic, creatively. It's best not to make any gestures, eye contact or egg anyone on. People sometimes need to know when they've been rude and get called on it.

Slid off the road in a turn, and slammed sideways into a telephone pole.. Then the pole broke and landed on the car, just missing me by inches.

Just be careful.. This kind of attitude can sometimes make you too agressive and unsafe. "Letting people know" by cutting them off, after they cut you off, is bad news.. You're better off just high beaming them..
If you're really upset, even pulling along side them and yelling at them, (not suggested, but it is better than driving crazy) is better than playing Road warrior in traffic. Its just too risky, especially when you are pissed off and not in your right mind...

I just usually shake my head cause its not even worth doing high beams, just gets you even more mad if he doesnt respond to your highbeams and most people dont even know theyve done something wrong. Or there are the people who did cut you off by accident and dont need any more imput from you other than a quick beep of the horn. I know, I myself have merged or tried merging at the wrong time and just give the guy/gal a wave that i know i cut you off im sorry. True there are a lot of people who just dont know how to drive on the highway. It is frustrating. Highway driving should be manditory in drivers ed.

BUT, when a damn ricer idiot is driving like, well a ricer idiot, you can allways give them a fair warning of some Z06 music and drown out the angry bumble bee in the fart can (thorw the ricer some revs and then invite him to the track).
Hang in there brother! Heck last weekend a 350Z with no interior and carbon fiber hood and trunk rolled into the track and was eyeing me and talking.... then I saw hime run 14 flat and realized I would much rather run with my C-5 buddies.

bah youre putting too much thought into it, just avoid inconsiderate drivers altogether and come off the off ramp faster than the right lane traffic so you can just get ahead without having to fight for a spot to merge.

Default Merge lane??

I am wondering, did you have a YIELD SIGN on your part of the ramp? Here in Pa. I see lots of people fly up the on ramps, where THEY have a yield sign and don't even slow down OR look for people on the interstate who have the right of way. So I am Just asking, no intention of a flame on my part...

Nope, it was a regaular two lanes going into one lane, the guy just refused that I get ahead of him getting real close to the one in front of him. This was not in the freeway it was on a surface street at a red light. The guy was being an @$$hole and , I guess, so was I.

I don't think I would perform an aggressive maneuver and then put my car in front of the car I was just aggressive with. He might rear-end you on purpose.

A rear end means he is at fault. And a new rear fasia.

People around base ask me almost everyday how I don't have any tickets.
LOTS of self discipline. That and I aint got caught yet.
I have found, while driving my Vette vise my IROC, that there is three types of people on the road around a Vette.
First type sees a Vette and wants to go 2 MPH faster then you no matter how fast you are going just to get in front a bit. They will block you in. Ride your rear or parallel you if traffic is tight. I call them A-holes.
Second type sees a Vette and stares. They forget about everything else on the road but your Vette. Looky lous.
Third sees a Vette and gets in the slow lane so you can pass. Vette owner in his/her other car.
The roads can be a dangerous place for a Vette, not just 'cause how "we" drive in them, but how other people drive around them.

Stay safe.

I feel the same way..
Most cars on the road are nowhere near as nice as our Z's.. Most people who are pissed off would not think twice about giveing you a little "love tap" with their front bumper.
Probably would do nothing to their POS, but to the Z, it could be horrible. And most likely, they will not have insurance.
Then again, Maybe I feel this way, because I drive in Philly..
