Default HID custom conversion mod

http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/chrisk...bum?.dir=/1f69
I got inspired and hated the stock lights. Its a work in progress. I still need to make a composite cover for the lights and paint the lens silver or black. I have not decided yet. The lights are Acura TSX HID projectors with slim balasts and the High beams are Hella 90mm. The lenses are Breathless performance. I m thinking of making molds of the tubs and selling them as a do it yourself kit.

Let us all Know about kit prices.

I just saw your price breakdown. It seems that the carbon fiber is overkill and expensive. Fiberglas cloth would be much cheaper and still do the job wouldn't it?

Anything done in Carbon Fiber can be done in fiberglas

Looks GREAT!!! The total cost is reasonable when looking at what else is out there.

Are you going to paint the top on the Plexglass? And last question, do you have a plan for the lighting being fogged up from inside or condensation?

They look outstanding through. Several people on the forum has attempted what you are doing and you are the closes to a clean look that I've seen yet. Although others have come close. Keep up the good work and let all of us know your results.

Yes I will paint the plexiglass. I have not decided yet what color. The fogging is a concern of mine. It will be sealed fairly well using a two part rubber mix used in aviation and a release agent. I m going to try it without a fan. If it needs one I can easly add one behind the lights where it wont be visable. Lights come out real easy you take the lens off then the light assymbly out and the tubs come out.

I could have used fiberglass but once these are clearcoated I think they will look better. I have used a combination of glass and carbon layers in the past. There are cheaper places to get carbon out there I just dont buy that large of a quantity. I was going for the bling affect.

I love it and the price tag looks much less than the $1200+ C5R kit.

I just wanted to add that the lights are DOT legal. No HID in stock C5 lenses. I just added up the cost and it cost me about $950. Kinda more then I wanted but the fit was what I was after. I didnt like the way the C5R's looked and I didnt like the lights in the breathless kit, but the lenses seemed like they fit the best. Its kinda cross of both C5R and Breathless. I could have saved money with none HID lights and went the cheap route.
