What makes me chuckle are people that will say this guy paid too much for his dream car, when they turn around and drop $30K worth of mods into their car and be lucky to get back 20 cents on the dollar.
How can any true Corvette lover bash anyone for paying two much for their first Vette. If you want it, and gotta have it , go for it. The grins are worth every cent.
People can pay whatever they want to get the car they want. I know that I probably "overpaid" when I bought mine, but it was what they were going for in my area.
Plus, it's hard to fault a guy for paying that for a '00 FRC when a bus just recently went for 4 million at the Barrett-Jackson auctions.
I only paid 16k for my 99 with ~90k on it. But it's got EVERY option except the Z51 package. Even has a HUD (which only was available in later 99's) to put things in perspective when I was 19 I bought a 2 year old Z-28 and paid 18k for it. I think the vette was a better purchase.
Sounds like your hope and desire are interfering with reality.
He owns a FRC so he looks for reasons to believe that they are worth more than they actually are. It happens with every group of car owners. The "what I have is rare" syndrome. Nevermind that it was rare to due market demand.
This thread reminds me.....anyone remember Father Larry?
Maybe not. If a Nassau Blue FRC is what you lust after, that one is as nicer than most you will find. It is worth paying a bit more and getting exactly what you want. Why settle?
Folks who are locked in a color - especially a relatively rare color - will tend to be willing to pay more. I speak from experience...
