Found an 02 coupe with 17k miles on it for $12, 500. Sounds pretty cheap to me but I dont follow the C5 market too much. Typically whats an averaage value for this? Going to see it hopefully this weekend, dont know anything about color, auto.manual, etc.
T.I.A.
I would proceed with extreme caution.
Even a base model '02 coupe in good condition should sell for $27-28K.
At that price I suspect a salvage title, or a vehicle that has been heavily damaged and rebuilt by the owner, or a flood damage car.
Salvage titles usually go for $10K under clear title values.... your find seems to be priced even below that point....
Probably a wreck or flood car. For $12,500, you still have $15-20K in your pocket that you didn't spend on a decent one. I don't think I would touch a flood car unless I planned on gutting the thing. Electrical issues will drive you nuts.
Yeah, thats it, he just sent me a ton of pics. Anyone have access to carfax?
VIN 1glyy22g525104970
In his email he said the only reason hes selling was because he has relocated to the UK. He also said the phone #'s were the ones listed on his credit card
Wondering if I should call the VIN to the local PD just for the heck of it??
I told him if hes serious to call, no more emails. Hes in the area and has volunteered to meet if Im serious. Sounds fishy but I am a little curious, scam or not.
Edit: I asked him if the4 price was correct (I bet its a typo and he wants $22,500), see what happens.

Same character who puts the cars on eBay for ridiculous amounts - he was moving to Ireland on there though. Ask him to email you a photo of the ad laying with the VIN badge ON THE CAR visible together. Won't happen. I tried the guy on eBay about a 57 tbird for $6,400.00 - never heard back from him.
