There is a time and place for everything.

Spirited driving is one thing. And if one gets gigged doing something they shouldn't then they need to accept responsibility for their action(s).

Street racing is a . LEO bashing is a . Whining is a .

It is O.K. to , just don't and

I am with you Sully!

I do like to floor it at times too, typically an on ramp when things are clear or that back road that sees little to no traffic on it (and they exist in the back woods of SC).

I think anyone who says they've never driven over the speed limit is being less than truthful. Let's be honest, many of us bought our Vettes because we like drving fast. The one thing I'll never do is complain about receiving a ticket on a car forum or anywhere else. I've received a few tickets in my life and they were all justified. I'm a grown man and I'm fully aware that there are consequences for my actions.

We all speed once in a while, but the key is to do it without endangering anyone and not come here and flaunt it. I didn't buy a Corvette to brag about it's great gas mileage or it's luxurious ride. It's a sports car and it's meant to be driven as such - as long as those activities are conducted in a safe and sane manner.

Not true at all... As many LEO's on this forum can attest to... seeing a 3 car pile up with two dead kids in the passenger seats and a bloody sidewalk filled with brain fragments, blood and hair... is not a fun thing...

Police, especially traffic cops, are trying to keep people from doing just that... it takes a split second and a driver going slightly over the speed limit to create mayhem like above... or worse...

I think if the tides were turned and a car flew through a residential intersection and barely missed hitting your kid...(not you specifically CUlooking, talking in general now) even though the driver may not have even seen your kid... if there was a cop there and the cop didn't do anything... you would be pissed at him for that... but yet if you get caught speeding, all these excuses come out and how the cop is an a-hole and what not...

If there is a person on this forum who has not been on a ride-a-long with a local Law Enforcement agency... I would strongly suggest it... You would start to see a cops view on things in a much different light...

Ya gotta be kidding me!

I dont' ever speed in a residential area...but give me a little open highway and.............
I have a "need for speed" now and again, but do it responsibly..open road no when it may endanger others..not within city limits..not when roadway is dangerous from being wet or under construction.

45 in a 25 sounds dangerous to me, most likely residential

85 in a 65 on an empty desert highway, better choice

Buck up, no whining
been there done that..78 in a 65 at night (no one to endanger) got a ticket paid and moved on..now a lil wiser and cautious. Fingers are crossed that it doesn't show up on my record for points and insurance. (out of state citation)
Edited:
By the way..I was in TX with CA DL and plates, could that be why he gave me a ticket instead of a warning (I have veteran plates, they should be good for something ) The LEO even commended me for being polite after he issued me the citation and told me to be careful on the rest of my journey. Boo Hoo Hoo

Try riding along with a first responding city fire dept. Not only do you have to see the brains of these idiots on the highway and through their windshields, you have to try to save their sorry azzes!

These horrendous driving skills remind me of an observation I've made over in Brooklyn where my girlfriend lives. It seems that every other moron drives at least double over "reasonable speed" while on one-way side streets, endangering the lives of everyone. Then, once on the highway, it seems that almost everyone with a NY plate on their car gets right into the fast lane and then does fifty

Default Hum...

I love my Vette....but having one does not give me or anyone else the right to speed. Don't get me wrong, I do punch mine now and then, but if I get caught...well... do the crime, pay the fine!

The times I've been written I have always been respectful of the LEO and have found that most of them have been professional. I generally thank them and wish them a good day after signing a cite, however there are those LEOs out there that pull an attitude out along with their ticket book. For them I have little respect, maybe it's the uniform going to their head, maybe they just dealt with an azzhole. I make the decision to drive 75 in a 55 or 85 in a 65 and I am responsible for those actions and must face any potential consequences. To all the LEOs out there, act professional and you'll have my respect...most of you already do and probably know the ones within your ranks that don't.

Open highway speeding fine. Residential speeding is another thing! When someone talks about doing 85 in a 45 mph speed zone, they get no sympathy from me. More than likely they are in an area with homes, children and pets. I have two children and a wonderful dog and people just don't realize as the fly past my house (a 25 mph zone), it would take just a second for them to lose control and kill my child or pet. Vette or no vette! For the love of God, slow down! To be quite honest, it's mostly the 18-25 crowd in their rice burners and the wanna be rice burners! And yes, I have exceeded the speed limit in my vette and then some, but I know there is a time and place for everything.
