Default My confession...

Maybe it's just me...and I'm not trying to start a war.. but almost every day a post is made about a speeding ticket, or someone racing you..and the poster gets scolded or flamed about speeding or whatever.
Are some of you trying to tell me you never exceed the speed limit?
Ya gotta be kidding me!

I'm no young kid, but I'm not dead either..OR reckless, but I really do think it's laughable seeing some of the responses here.
I dont' ever speed in a residential area...but give me a little open highway and.............

We didn't buy our Vettes to always go the posted speed limit, but we should be prudent about when & where we open her up. I have seen people street-racing in very dangerous areas, that is a Two cars playing on an open road (no traffic) is one thing, but all-too-often it is in residential or commercial areas.

Its not that people post that they got the tickets... but they always end up saying "the cop was an a-hole" or "I didn't deserve it" or "Why didn't the stupid cop pull the other fast cars over" or something dumb like that...

If someone posts on here that they got a ticket, and then say "live and learn" or something to that effect... nobody would flame him/her..

its just when you get people bragging about it and then throwing the blame anywhere besides themselves...

They usually just try and start a "cop flame".... which is juvenile... and plus you have a lot of cops on this forum that don't like speeders that whine about being "victimized"

oh geez here we go again...

I'm with Groucho in that most people speed, but I think sandmanusd has a good point... Cops are paid to enfore the law, and everyone know that speeding is against it, so we shouldn't flame cops for issuing tickets, even if they are just for revenue...

exactly....but what really gets me is the ones that say "uh duh i was speedin and stuff, it was cool, i got pulled over, i was a *****, cop gave me a ticket, and im gonna fight it because i dunno but im not goin down without a fight".....i dont get it. yes, if u have a valid defense and u believe u were innocent im all for taking it to court. but if u just want to fight it so u can waste everyone's time and try to get out of paying for your screwups...then all i have to say is grow up.

I agree with Sully - there is a time and a place. But the forum rules are very specific about stories on street racing or kill stories. Some folks have to get on this forum and brag about their conquests, and it's just not allowed. It is a privately owned forum and the owner has given us permission to use it - as long as we follow his rules.

We all speed once in a while, but the key is to do it without endangering anyone and not come here and flaunt it. I didn't buy a Corvette to brag about it's great gas mileage or it's luxurious ride. It's a sports car and it's meant to be driven as such - as long as those activities are conducted in a safe and sane manner.

Y' know, I live in a very quiet neighborhood, mostly pre-retired empty nesters. Yet I love driving down my 1 block long street in 2nd gear so everyone will know that I'm either coming or going in the Corvette. I'm almost 65 years old and I still have to make a statement with the car. Yup, I drive with the traffic on George Bush Freeway which has been called the Dallas Autobahn.

That's my confession.

The forum does not want to be seen as a place that condones street racing, therefore those stories are not allowed. Assertive, yet prudent use of America's Sports Car is what some of us find the most exciting

Assertively drive....or assertively wax...or both!

The older guys here have also probably seen the results of screwing around in motor vehicles. My father lost his only brother in a motorcycle versus car accident and his brother was screwing around on prom night. Imagine at 18 losing your younger brother. We all speed sometimes, but we hopefully have experience and wisdom to take the chance as to when. There are a lot of legal ramifications too. "Jump on it" when the road is empty and the time is right, and if you can afford the consequences. Just my opinion

Toys are not as fun when your dead, or when you killed another guy whose family is going to make you feel like your dead... with their attorneys, etc.

I agree with sandmanusd...

As far as speeding...there is a time and place for everything...you make your choices, and take your chances.

45 in a 25 sounds dangerous to me, most likely residential

85 in a 65 on an empty desert highway, better choice

Buck up, no whining

Even here in "Amish Country" the traffic can be miserable. Speeding in the city? Forget it! However, occasionally you can find a wide-open country road...you just have to watch out for the local "road apples".

Hi Groucho

What people say can be very different from what they do.

That's all I have to say about that right there.

99% of every LEO I have ever had to deal with on a professional level were just that - professional. I extend them the same courtesy I would anyone who puts themselves in danger serving and protecting us.

best regards -
