Looks like the Canadians are stuck with the same BS reacall for the Manual...replace the locking plate, reprogram the PCM
...yea that fix worked great here in the USA.... I had same recall done, and the column still locked up and computer shut the fuel off.it's about time

well i know im golden cause i have an early A4 that had the plate removed last go around....at least i hope im still ok hahahaha
now my parents have it super easy. 2002 A4...never had one of them pieces of junk in it.

Soooo......assuming that quite a few of us are NOT the original owners of our cars, how does GM plan to notify everyone? Without a campaign letter in hand, will they still honor the recall to anyone that shows up at their doorstep?

Actually I think for safety recalls they access state DMV records and notify owners of recalled vehicles based upon current vehicle registrations.
