Default Almost getting a new Z!

I'm on my way to a 2004 z06 with 10100 miles for 38k. I just got it ok'd by my superwife (with out her pay I couldn't afford it) and now I have to get preapproved by the dealership tomorrow. They said it should be no problem though. It's a silver one with red stripes on the side? I've never seen a z06 like this b4. They said it came from the factory like that. Could someone please tell me what it is or the rpo? Also the interior is red and black. Wish me luck!!!

The red stripes are not factory, however the mod red interior is. Good luck on your purchase. I'm in the process of finishing the paperwork on an 02 Z06 myself, so I certainly know how exciting of a time this is for you. Congrats, I hope everything works out for you.

More dealership incorrect information. I'd make sure it's even a real Z06. But for me, those red stripes look tacky.

It's a 2004, so it is a Z06. (Hard Top)

Congrats!
Well unless the red on the doors is vinyl, you're looking at paint work!
Love the silver, red has to go, along with the BSM!
Lower it ASAP.

Yeah it's hard for me to tell since the dealership is 1200 miles away and he already told me the orevious owner ordered it from the factory like that and that he knew the owner so I doubt I'd trust if he knew if it was vinyl or paint but worse comes to worse I can get it painted black there or back to factory. I find it funny how he specifically said the previous owner ordered it like that. I red that interior only came in 500 or so of the Z's is that true? I'm learning alot about these wonderful machines specifically just from reading all the posts in the faq and thank you guys for all your inputs and anything else I learn about this car!

EDIT Can someone maybe runa carfax on it for me? Thanks!

EDIT AGAIN
Can someone point out the BSM for me? Sorry if I sound dumb now but I never saw one with/without (body side moldings right?) Unless that's just the black vent thing, I don't mind that too much.
Thanks again!

I second that. Removing those red stripes should be his first mod!

He probably meant the Red Mod Interior, and not talking about the stripes.
Maybe in another color like black as you've said, may look better on silver.

Don't salesmen ever consider that a buyer might actually look into the bullcrap they try to convince people is the truth?

Hopefully they're vinyl stickers so you can peel them off.

I suppose he also told you that the wheels are factory too right? Just a heads up in case he did...they're not.

All in all, it does look like a realy nice car though.

I don't have Carfax, but the good news is that the VIN is definitely of a Z06

For sure it didn't come like that from the factory. Black on the side would look just as cheesy! I would not want to have to do paint on a 'new' car! Hope it's vinyl for your sake.

Just for the ehck of it I'll ask him tomorrow if it's vinyl...hopefully he'll say yes...and I don't think I'll paint it black I'll just live with it and someday if I tire of it...when I have money again I may just paint it the body color.

Make an offer of $35k. After all, it's not all original. It doesn't have its stock wheels, although they could be, just that the previous owner may have had them chromed?

Well he had it listed at 42 which is too high and went down to 38 and is taking my car valued by kbb @ 6k and giving me 9 so I can get rid of the payment to take this...so I think I haggled th most I could lol. He wouldn't go down to 37. He only will if he can't give me full payoff value for the trade in. The z06 had no chrome rim option? I never got to research the z06 too much cause I never thought I'd get one.

But keep in mind I'm 21, my wife is 19 I have godd credit and so does she (720), but we haven't had it for years so it's hard to get a loan that high without a dealership's help. Otherwise I'd buy from some of the great people on this forum. Besides, full payoff of a 2000 toyota celica gt and a 10k mile 04 z06 for 38k out the door? Not to bad a deal to me.

Hi ckd -

It looks like a Z to me - quicksilver with mod-red interior.

The stripes are not stock (where do car salesmen get these stories?), but they appear in the pictures to be vinyl and should be easily removed.

The chrome rims are not stock either - they are either factory rims that have been chromed, or aftermarket chrome rims....

congrats! Looks like a nice Z!

best regards -

If those red inserts are NOT vinyl and you are NOT in love with them, do NOT buy the car. For this kind of money, make sure you love your car. I looked at more than a handful before I bought mine and it is hard to take your heart out of the equation when you are right in front of the car.

FWIW, one of the one's I looked at was an '04 with under 4K miles and the dealer was asking $35,900. Only reason it is not mine is that I didn't have my 96 sold yet and the trade offer was not to my liking.
