6sp vs A4
If you're doing bracket racing, you're probably better off with an A4 due to the consistency of acceleration. I know a local who bracket races a Camry, and wins pretty consistently, because the pedal goes to the floor and the automatic shifts consistently every race.
For the sake of those who may not know, the Pasadena freeway I believe was the first freeway in the nation, and many of the entrances are still from a total stop, rather than a merge, which is freaky, to say the least. At least, it was the last time I drove that thing many years ago...
Stock, mine would do a 2-3 shift at about 65 mph, and it would nosedive so bad you'd think I was stepping on the brakes.
Currently, I shift at around 90 mph in 2-3, at about 6500 (numbers aren't exact) and the transition is much better, although the gear difference between 2-3 is so steep that the car still dives a little bit.
I like the A4 for 1st and second gear, but I'll tell ya, it would be perfect if there were another gear between 2 and 3. This is my dilemma. I could always go to a different ratio in the differential to make up for the 2-3 nose dive, but my engine is putting out so much power, that 1st and 2nd would become useless.
I am playing around with TCC settings now, to try and compensate.
