I don't get that...you pay $180 for them to send you a stock shifter thats simply been cut down and includes a billet ****, and you have to ship them your stock shifter. They take it, cut it down, throw in a **** and make another $180. Isn't there a way to just cut your own and save the $180 and the hassle of taking yours out, shipping it and installing the new one? I'd imagine the re-threading might be a tad tricky though...
I actually did not pick this shifter. It was put in by the original owner. That being said, it shifts substantially better than the Z06s I have driven with original shifters. If I were to pick, I would have likely gotten the hurst. That is what I had in my last car and I loved it.

I installed a BPP shifter over a year ago and I love the feel. It does make some noise at WOT, but it is not a huge issue. I would rather not have any noise at all, but I still wouldn't go back to stock because I love the precision and feel that the BPP unit gives me. I have given the new B&M shifter with the noise isolation some thought, but would need to be sure that it offers the kind of precise, short throws that the BPP unit provides.
It was the adjustability of the BPP unit that sold me on it. I was able to position it for maximum comfort and fit for the way I drive. It is a very well made shifter and definitely had some great engineering in it's design.

Not too hard to do if you dont cut it too low. Use a plastic bag speared over the bare shifter after you remove the **** to catch the shavings, and hack away with a hack saw.
A few pics of it in an '04 Z06 but I would imagine it's all the same in C5's. I've heard this mod makes a difference. I plan to try it very soon myself.

So all you did was hack off some of the shifter and used the remaining threads to screw the **** back on, simple as that? About how much did you cut it down? Or did you add more threads? if so, how do you do this??
I am surprised people are not specifying which B&M shifter they are using. B&M makes the Ripper and than the sport shifter. The ripper is a little more aggressive and the sport as you can imagine is quieter and more stock like but still shorter and more precise. heard a lot of good things about the new sport shifter. Same with the ripper, just depends on your goals I guess.
Don't mean to beat a dead horse. Do you have a Hurst, B & M, or BPP??? How do you like it?
I just took a Kirban out and put a Hurst in. Not much difference but
the Hurst was a xmas prensent from my wife so I wanted to go with
it. Either is better than the stock shifter. The Hurst might be a little
easier to move. I kept the springs in that were already installed.

I have not done this mod yet, just no time, but I was told all they did was cut about 1" off the top of the shaft. Then they used the remaining threads without having to re tap it or add new threads. If you have that machining option you could go real short. Just start small and try the **** and you should be ok.
I had a Ripper, but decided to go to a modified stock shifter. I did the work myself. Afer removing the unit, and taking it apart, I cut to the desired height, and welded it back together. Throws were much shorter, and very smooth. It was about the height of a Supra shifter.
Gman, couldn't you just have simply cut it down in the car like rocket described??
Obviously you can as seen above. I wanted mine lower, and didn't want to risk damaging the threads. Plus, it is soooo simple to remove the shifter from the car to work on it, why try and do the work inside the car. I bought a stock shifter from a member here on the forum for $25. I kept my original(unmodified) unit and it went with the car when it sold.
Yeah your shifer is definitely super low! That thing is really cool looking. Most people aren't able to weld though and I didn't think it was all that simple to remove the stock shifter. How long did it take?
