I've never driven nor ridden in a coupe, so I don't know... But you'd better bring your checkbook, because if it's a sunny day, you're gonna want to drive it home. Eventually.
We own an 03 my 6spd, and are extremely happy that we bought this insead of a coupe. To us the convertable is great to drive with when it is nice, but can put it up when it is cold, and gain some more space as well for anything we need to put in the trunk. Remember that some tracks do not allow verts too, that may affect your decision. In my opinion the vert is the best body style.
Dev,
Go with the vert and you will never look back . I hardly ever drive my car with the top up, I can count the times on my hands but then again it is not my daily driver.
I've had both.
Loved the Targa, but gotta tell ya...nothing like my vert.
I really like the looks with the top up or down. My vert is having mods added now, so I can't tell you about getting tossed from tracks yet, but I hope to get tossed this year.
I am in Ohio so I only put the top down when weather permits....even with the limited days its well worth it! Not that much road noise, plenty of cargo space, when the top is up and the air conditioning is on it stays nice and cold just like a FRC.
Very few con's...not worth mentioning.
If you were here...you could drive mine for the weekend and try it before you decide to buy one.
Good luck with your choice....I don't see how you lose no matter what your final decision is though!
If you plan to travel anywhere keep in mind that there is no trunk space. We would never have a vert simply because we love to travel and we love to play golf...it holds two full sized golf bags, several suitcases, ice chest and all sorts of other things.
Additional note- I know it's not quite the same as a vert, but with the targa top off it's almost like a convertible. Besides, my wife feels a little more "secure" with the targa "rollbar" and back window there. We have the top off every chance we get.
happy driving not matter what you buy... the important thing is it's a VETTE!!!!
WRONG!!!
There's plenty of luggage space in the vert, even with the top down. Probably more than the coupe with the top stored.
Go for the vert IMO.
I like the 'verts, but one of the things I usually look for in the lines of a vehicle is the B pillar treatment. It really helps define the shape and bring continuity to my eye. This may not apply to most people, though. So, for me, I prefer a coupe or hardtop.
