I use comp mode most of the time when I drive. That way if I do get a little too crazy active handaling should save me. I evan use comp mode on the drag strip.
Comp more for the track. If I am in it that bad and it spins on the street, well, I am having too much fun. Be careful with the cold roads out there.

It's better to be safe than sorry. I would hate to a make a 2-3 shift on a cloverleaf and find that there just happened to be something slick on the asphalt that lays the car out sideways (and ultimately out of control). A Z06 is a loaded weapon, keep that safety engaged whenever possible.
I dive with everything off. Comp. mode takes too much fun away. If the road is wet I dive with everything on. Just get on the gas smooth and brake smooth.
I use competition mode during autox only. I turn AH off when drag racing. Other than that AH is always on. Wait, I do turn it off when I drift onto the Interstate on ramp near my house. Damn, that's fun!
That is, until I casually accelerated through a right hand turn at about 20-25 mph, through an intersection, and hit something slick, which put the car into an extreme oversteer condition..
Im a pretty good driver, so I was able to straigten it out after the car fish tailed twice going both ways through the busy intersection... But for a few precious seconds, the car was out of control in the middle of heavy traffic. I ended goin into oncoming traffic, having cars barely miss me, and scuffing one of my mirrors against a pickup truck, going sideways.. It was a scary experience.. I feel like 3/4 of the people out there would have crashed under the same circumstances.. I almost lost my car.
Its exactly these kind of conditions that Active handling was designed for..All you guys not using it on the street are just waisting it.
Ever since this incident, I use active handling on the street 100%. I sugest you all use it, no matter how good a driver you are..
Active handling can do something that even the best drivers cannot.. It can apply brake to one wheel.. This brings the car back in line quicker than any pro driver could, under extreme oversteer conditions. Food for thought..
It is the first thing I do after starting the car. I was going north on I-24 up a steep grade in the middle lane of a three lane truck-passing stretch running 70 and pulled out to pass a slower car. Down shifted to 3rd an applied the gas. I immediately spun sideways. Before I could react the car straightened out and continued passing without incident. My passenger said; "man that was some exibition of driving skill!' . When I told her it was not me but the Active Handling she has not been in my car since. That day it saved my bacon and I never drive without it.
If this isn't a typo the you need to change your habits. AH has been prooven to have no affect on the acceleration of the car. It only intervenes when the car gets substantially sideways. I've seen a few Vipers wreck at the drags by getting the *** end too far out, over-correcting, and hitting the wall. I personally have had it save my *** when I hit some oil mid way through 3rd gear.
The only time I run all off is when I'm at an HPDE and have run a few sessions to get re-acclimated to the car.
I leave it all on on the street because I had my TC reprogrammed to not cut out as hard... it's a soft intervention.
Comp mode has saved my butt a few times at ATCO/Englishtown, and on the street. I'm not a pro, nor a newbie, but it reacts so fast, its unbelievable. I've turned everything off and burned out, Azz always kicks out to the right, its expected and controllable. What isn't controllable is the Azzhat in front/side of you, forcing you to make sudden defensive moves, thats when I appreciate it most.
I use everything it on the street, as one never knows when you will make a hard shift and hit an unforseen puddle and slick spot. I doubt that would be fun at WOT. I always wonder when I see corvette wrecks "Was active handling on or traction control on?" I will turn off traction control every once in a while when I am planning on having some fun. I also run HPDE events with everything off, as I have found it can teach you bad track habits.
How do you turn everything off? I usually hold the active handling button in for 5 seconds to get to the Comp. mode. It is my understanding that comp. mode will let the rear wheels spin and not kick the accelerator back orapply the rear brakes, right? Again, how do I turn everything off/
To turn AH off, you just push the button down once - momentarily...boom it's off.
I was given a ride in my bud's pumped EVO and it was fast/impressive. Then it was time for me to show him my car. I slammed 2nd w/AH on and it fell on its face. Pal said "What happened?" So I told him about AH. He said "Well turn that SH*% off!" So I did...this time I slammed 3rd and we found ourselves fishtailing wildly at like 70mph. Got it under control easy enough but it sure suprised us. Man that Z06 power is SWEEEET.
We were giggling like 2 idiots afterwards....which, I guess, is a fitting moniker.
A Z06 owner/track instructor advised me to use full AH during the first session (or two) on the track, then switch to Comp mode. This I wil do - on Friday, then again on Sunday!
another good thing about A/H, when you shift hard , the car feels like it about shuts down, you know your rear tires are done..put on new rears and the A?H works great.. same with comp mode.
i never run with it completely off..thats just stupid for the street...you don't gain any performance , other than a big mistake

While no pro, I consider myself to be a competent driver in performance situations. I've always been able to drive my way out of tight or dangerous situations and have always risen to the top of the class at most any driving school or HPDE I've attended. I also have a lot to learn in this arena. One thing I do know about my limitations is that I cannot react as quickly as AH can. I've heard too many stories from Vette owners about how AH saved their bacon and in the few instances in rain or whatever that it kicked in if the tail kicked out on accel, I was amazed at how quickly it responds and straightens out the car.
With this in mind I never turn AH off. I do run in Competitive mode often when I want to have a little fun with the rear tires, but I would never turn off the system completely. That is just asking for trouble for an average driver like myself.
Don't let your ego trip you up on this one...keep the AH on!

I think you are confused about TC, AH, and competition mode. The scenario you are describing is traction control kicking in.
Anyway, here is a good case for keep AH on (Competition Mode):
