BTIS Shifter problem

HELP!!!!! BTIS Shifter problem
I have a '98 Coupe with an automatic trans. The shifter is locked in "Park", and I think the BTIS has malfunctioned. I have tried for hours to get it to unlock. I was told in the past there is a "Bypass" switch somewhere which will allow me to get the car out of "Park" and into gear, allowing me to drive it to a mechanic. I called the local Chevy service manager and he said there was no bypass switch, I need to have it towed. Does anyone know if there is in fact a "Bypass" switch somewhere or am I going to have to get it towed????
