Sam, it's your call on using the Tint shop. I went there when I first got my car. After getting the "evil ricer stare" from most of the people working and hanging around there, they really couldn't give me a firm price. I ended up buying the full Xpel kit and doing it myself. Plenty of people have asked me about it and I think I'm the unofficial local spokesman for the stuff now. A few CF members who've paid the big bucks to have others do it for them will tell you it's a pro install only. I call . When you get the kit, it comes in big sheets. I used the leftover pieces to do the rockers and painted inner fender lips. I think the most important part to protect is the lower fronts of the rear fenders. I'm starting to think that you need to bring your car over here for a mod day.
IF you're going to go the "bra" route, then the GM bra is probably the "best for the least".
I bought a GM bra from Fitchner Chevrolet, a CF sponsor, for my 1999 coupe and after 7 years of use, the fit is still very "snug"! The installation and removal of the bra is a "breeze", which makes you "more apt" to use it more often.
The painted surface beneath the bra is still shiny and clear of abrasive scratches, and it has remained on the car for long periods of time, under some pretty severe weather conditions.
In 2004, the wife and I set out on a 8-week, 35 state, 13,000 road trip all across the USA. The bra saw everthing from snow in Yellowstone, and grasshoppers in Montana, to a couple days of torrential down pours in Maine... The bra remained on the car during the entire trip, with the exception of the 3-4 times I washed the car on this trip...
"Parts Bob" from Fitchner Chevrolet will ship one to your door for less than $100.
Good luck.....
Anybody got a pic of car with the GM bra installed?
Simply stay about 3 car lengths back from SUVs, pickup trucks, and semi rigs and your front end will look great for years.
Tom
I stay 3-5 lengths back from anything in front of me (move into unoccupied lane if available). Plan to eventually go with clear bra - for now though, I just hang back and enjoy the ride.
Then why don't you DIY? The Xpel kit comes with a great how to video. It is not as difficult as some would have you think.
Yeah, I'm considering it as a DIY. From what I've read, it just seems to be a very tedious process though. Sure looks a lot better than the black bra. Well, on a car anyway.

Don't let it scare you. Start with wash (with dawn), claybar, then wash again. Do the easy, flatter things like the headlight covers first. Then the little pieces that go on the fronts of the fenders, then hood, bumper and lastly the mirrors. They are by far the most difficult. I've had plenty of vette people look at my install and say it looks flawless. (And you know what Vette owners can be like. )

Thanks... I'll probably give it a shot. Not nervous about doing it, just don't know if I have the patience!
Where did you find the best price on the materials?

I bought mine from a forum member who traded his C5 for an XLR before he had a chance to put it on. He bought it from www.Xpel.com . It took me about 5 hours, but that includes a lot of extra work. There was enough leftover material to custom cut protection for the rockers and painted inner fender lips. If you do that too, make sure not to overlap any pieces at all. Dirt can accumulate in those tiny spaces.
