With a 1/4 tank of gas, headlights, and LT headers mine weighted 3005 at the drags.

im not saying the evo is faster than the z. and as for taking my z06 to the track-im not into beating the crap out of my cars anymore-i am so over that!--if i want to race i go to homestead or orlando or daytona- and get in a real race car-now thats a rush.-

I don't think most of you guys know too much about the evo, cause that is honestly the best all round sports car for the money. The new Evo 9 with a catback, Manual boost controller and a tune run about 373 whp and on race gas 400+ whp . I don't know if you guys saw the Top Gear show where the Evo hung with the Lamborghini Murcielago around the track. My buddy has an Evo and I love driving it. It is like driving a Go-cart, point and shoot, you don't have to be carefull. I just don't like the boy racer look. It was between a '06 Evo MR and a C5 Z06............I am going with the vette ..........but never under estimate the Evo..........especially if it is black with an AMS sticker on it (900+whp AWD )

^ Yes we all know about the AMS evo, everyone on the intarweb does. If you see a Corvette with a Lingenfelter sticker on it and 427 on the side don't underestimate it.

I've seen the Top Gear w/ the Evo MR... cool car, but looks crappy to me and like they said lag is a bitch.

Howdy Folks!

You know, I've always said there's more to just the objective nature of the car for enthusiasts.

Sometimes there's a historical significance as it relates to racing, or your family's ownership history. (I love all the races X car has won, or my family has always driven Y)

Sometimes it's about the other people in the "scene" for a given car. (I like import meets, the music, the type of women, etc.)

It can even be a pre-disposition towards things we might consider snooty (I only drive Porsche), or that we can't fathom (I think an STi looks better than a Z06).

I had a pretty done up Supra by TMS and while I enjoyed showing it and talking about it, the import shows were just a 10 hour rave, not into that scene anymore. I really enjoyed the car, and didn't consider any of the objective metrics, I just "liked it" - hell for the money I could have easily had a new Viper, but it didn't "click" with me.

So honestly, I can see someone wanting to go another route, that maybe we don't "get" - and they shouldn't even need to explain the where's an' why's - it just is.

Good luck with the MR

Evos are pretty impressive though, not my cup 'o tea but still impressive. I could never imagine getting rid of my Z for one. But I'd take on, de-wing it, and daily driver it.

i honestly think i am an import guy too, i can relate with that scene a lot more, but i still love the Z06, i dont think id get a evo over a z06, i had a friend that just bought a sti and after driving my vette really thought long and hard about selling the sti to get a vette but just hated the notchyness of the shifter on the vette. I for one think the z06 is far from a boat, its actually quite nimble, i felt my supra was a lot more of a boat that being said, depending on where i am financially in a couple years my next car will hopefully be a new Z or maybe the new skyline or new supra if they ever get hard numbers on them

im callin bs on you. ive read no where that the evo mr has crank bearing issues infact i dont think that has been a problem with mitsubishi motors since '99-but id be interested in you providing me with specific facts to back up what your saying .and evos are so weak -thats why theyve been winning rallys for the past 13 years.

so if youre just gonna make an ignorant comment to me like evos are weak try backing it up with somethin'

Both Evos and WRXs are ugly cars made fast. What's the point? Anything can be made fast so why buy a 4 door with tacked on boy racer body panels? Nobody actually thinks these cars look good do they?

woah easy big fella just joking around i know alot about DSM's and im aware of that fact, but i guess your not arguing about there crappy tranny's and transfer cases... hmmmm yea i guess your right they do win rallys all the time but thats all there good for, the only reason why they run good timeson the track is cuz there AWD there garbage off a roll.. one of the fastest ones live by me his name is ron, sposored by TurboTrix, its lime green, was blue, but that thing was in the shop ever other week getting a new motor or tranny or transfer case.... but oh yea thats right im making ignorant comments, hope this is enought back up for ya

but anyway u was not goign to get into all the Evo's problems till you wanted to call me out, good luck with your new car

I go on their site daily I saw a dyno pull at 1000+ WHP in a C6. Thats insane.

I think their limited edition c6 z06 is 725HP but they have a 800HP package (if i read it corectly).

I wonder if you can go to the Mitsu factory and take a tour and meet the people building your car, my guess is no.

i don't understand why he's being dogged because he switched to an evo? the car is undeniably a hell of a platform to go to if you're looking to modify. sure- straight from the factory it will never outperform a z06, but it wasn't priced to do so. it's highly impressive what people are doing with a 4 cylinder and as a car enthusiast credit should be given where it's due. we all know that it's not as good a performer as a z06, but it also didn't cost close to 65k either.

the evo is a great choice if you're local to me come on over and i'll make it an animal for you. i can tell you right now that as soon as the evo10 comes out- my z06 is gonna go bye bye.
