Well, my program has been tweaked, and is up and running.
So, I have a bit of time to kill.

And, I realize I have been taking the wrong approach.
I should have been asking to be educated.
As a charter member of the "big boat" and the "really sad punks" clans,
I need help.

So, as for the "evo", of which I know nothing.

Does that come "well-equipped", or do you need to add (or delete) the following mandatory "rice-er-roni" items ?

1. The front, side, and rear "lower aero package trim", preferred color of add-ons being "original out of the box white" ?
2. The rear wing suitable for proper downforce at 227.8345 mph ?
3. The dumpster for the rear seat, spare tire, and all interior trim, the HVAC and stereo systems (to get the weight down "close" to 3000 lbs.).
4. And, MOST important, the exhaust pipe "thingy" best described as a "fart can" ?

As I said above, "inquiring minds want to know".

I totally apologize for putting an inappropriate and off-topic post in this thread.
I would delete it, but others have already copied it.
Last night I was using the Forum to engage my mind, as I was mentally rather out of sorts.
Because I was waiting for my father to die last night.
He did.

However, I am still going to allow full military honors at his funeral,
in spite of the fact many do not see this as an honor.

Again, I am sorry to be such an anachronism in this day and age,
and bring dishonor to certain members of the Corvette community.

However, I do not plan to "get over it".
It is who I am.
I'm very sorry to hear about your Dad's passing and I honor him for his service to our country. I believe strongly that any one who has the courage to serve our country in the military deserves all the praise we can give them. You can feel proud about what your father contributed towards the freedom we enjoy...even the freedom to make fools of ourselves on forums like this.

Go ahead and wave the flag all you want to...somebody needs to these days, and the people who don't think its cool just need to travel to a few of the countries we are now defending and get a taste of what it is like to live in a land without the freedoms and privileges we enjoy.

Here's to you and your father!

ill say it again- i dont think the evo out preforms the z- im buying it for a daily driver, and ill have alot more fun in it than i did in the z-period.

You certainly have a right to drive and enjoy the vehicle of your choice and I have no disagreement with that at all. I am somewhat befuddled that you could not manage to have the same kind of fun in the Z06 which is why I questioned if and how you have driven it. Mine is my daily driver and it is a blast! However I am a classic muscle car/ sports car guy...V8, rear wheel drive, and manual transmission. The Z06 is an unparalleled package in this regard and I have seen few domestic or foreign cars that can compare with it.

The Evo is a respectable package to be sure, but it needs supercharging to develop it's hp whereas the Z06 grunts it out the old fashioned way. That is the way I like it...you have a right to enjoy performance in your own way too. All that being said, it is just hard for me to imagine you putting your foot to the floor in both cars, putting them through their paces and not being able to appreciate the Z06 for what it is and/or seeing the Evo as the preferable car. That is why I have some doubts as to the legitimacy of your previous comments, but, as they say...different strokes for different folks!

See ya.

I suspect that he is NOT the real antichrist.
I would expect a LOT more turbo-charged mental horsepower from the real dude.

However, I'm just an old-fashioned guy raised as a mid-western Methodist, and "sorta strayed" along the way.
And, I've never "read the Bible", but kinda believe some Christian values aren't really that bad to follow as a life philosophy.
As long as you allow for "to each his own, and in their own way".
And, redemption for your failures. The Lord knows I need that caveat.

On the other hand, if "666" is the antichrist,
I can certainly see how my value system might rub him the wrong way.

Revelation 13:16-18
And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a MARK in their right hand, or in their foreheads:
And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the MARK, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast:
for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.

Evo 9 is a great car. I was recently deciding between one of those and the C5 Z06. Coming from a Nissan 350Z, the Evo itself, and the whole import scene certainly felt more like home. Despite the higher weight, it feels like a smaller car with it's short overhangs and uber-sensitive steering. My 350Z also felt like a smaller car than the Z06 for the same reasons. That said, I went with the Z06 because I love my RWD, and I'm becoming more and more enamored with torque. For me right now, it was the right choice.

Without some firsthand knowledge however, I wouldn't put the Japanese AWD rally specials down or undersestimate them. They are very practical, fun to drive, and affordable. Best of all though, they can put the smack down on most other cars on the street or track, particularly with a modest mod budget.

Anyway, good luck with your new ride.

Yea, the evo weighs more.

Heck, my 02 z is 650 lbs lighter than my previous 3000gt vr4!
Talk about cumbersome!

That was one of the main reasons I went with the z.
That and the HUGE pump gas HP potential!

Enjoy the evo, it'll make a great DD.

Unfortunately, I have to agree with you on this point, sir.
Don't know if that was 666's intent, but it certainly does happen in society today.

Not to be rude, but this seems like troll to me.

A junior member since Jan 2006 and you announce that you are trading in a Z06 for an Evo? Seems a bit suspicious.

In regards to which is better? Impossible to say, it's a matter of taste. If you are young kid and liked the lame-a** movie "Fast And Furious", an Evo is the car for you. It has nothing to do with automotive technology, but more to do with whether you like big wings, neon lights, and plastic body kits.

Evos are for kids. At my age I would be embarrassed to be seen in a kid's ride.

Ciao,

Rick

My son's 3000GT is not the VR4 so at least it was not burdened with the extra 300 pounds of weight from the AWD. So it was ONLY 300 pounds heavier than my Z06.
