Yeah, just try paying CA prices for 91 (we call that premium here for what, $2.70? I think folks in other states get REAL premium, like 93 or 94, right? Be thankful you're paying less for more.

Gas has gone up in this area 50 cents in less than a month. Today it was $2.52 for regular at the station nearest me.

Awww we all hate paying more then we have before, but the bottom line is, we will buy it no matter the cost. I never look at the price, since it won't make any difference on if I will buy it or not. Plus you have to realize, we do drive a hybrid, burns both gas and rubber.

Wow, you mean some people actually look at the price of gas. I never pay attention to the price, when the time comes I just duck into my favorite station and fill 'er up.

I don't even know how many mpg the Vettes get. But I know they get a whole bunch of smiles per mile.

I never worry about the gas prices when I am paying at the pump for filling up the vette. That's because, next to me is some little woman filling up her oversized Hummer (or some such gas guzzeling brick) that gets about one forth the mileage my vette gets.

Besides, my vette is my reward for teaching junior high all those years!

If your concerned with the price going up, just do what I do...As the price goes up, just slow down 5mph for every 10cent increase. This will offset the price increase and instead of people seeing you as you pass them, more will see you as they pass your vette in envy You'll also be the slowest car on the road just behind the Chevy Metro

They raise them because they can and we have no choice in the matter. But their day will come, in our lifetime.

$273.9 for Mobil Premium an hour ago.
Same nonsense, smell of anything, price jumps 1 minute later. How come when it goes the other way it takes weeks to go down??
I guess lowering prices requires meetings, surveys, requests, personel, computer techs, printing, mail, phone calls, waivers, documents, etc, etc.
Raising prices, just push a button.

Ok, my pleasure.

What better way to create an illusion of short supplies, than to restrict the refining capacity of a given product, in this case gasoline?

It is no secret that since the mid 70's, there have been no new refineries built...regardless of whatever reasons/excuses are given for it. However, demand has continued to increase as the population increases.

The result?.....viola, we have a shortage....we must raise the prices....and blame it all on simple "supply and demand".

Surely you can't be that naive, not to be aware of these sorts of manipulations?

And while we're on the subject, do you have any idea why the price of natural gas (which is completely unrelated to the refining of gasoline), goes up when there is a "fear" or some "concern" which MIGHT affect oil production?

These oil companies are not stupid. Their monetary successes are a testamony to that. The stupid ones are the general public for not demanding something be done about it.

But then what do you expect when you have an "oil man" in the drivers seat at the white house?
