Anybody else hear about the hearing that was to be held about a month-and-a-half ago where our government wanted the national heads of the major oil companies to be present for questions? Not a single representative from the oil giants showed up.

It was down to $1.95 here for Reg a few weeks ago. Now its back up to $2.25 for reg. Another thing I noticed is there is no more Ultra 94 at my local Sunoco station just 93. Looked like things were starting to stabilize there for a minute........oh well.

Sorry, but, you're wrong about Bush. It would not matter if Jesse Jackson was in the white house. The oil companies are going to crush our ***** with this "supply & demand" bulls**t forever. No President is going to tell them (the oil companies) to build more refineries........

That's a heck of a jump. Wonder what their reasoning was (as if they have to have a reason to hike prices)?

It is no secret that since the mid 70's, there have been no new refineries built...regardless of whatever reasons/excuses are given for it. However, demand has continued to increase as the population increases.
The result?.....viola, we have a shortage....we must raise the prices....and blame it all on simple "supply and demand".
Surely you can't be that naive, not to be aware of these sorts of manipulations?
And while we're on the subject, do you have any idea why the price of natural gas (which is completely unrelated to the refining of gasoline), goes up when there is a "fear" or some "concern" which MIGHT affect oil production?
These oil companies are not stupid. Their monetary successes are a testamony to that. The stupid ones are the general public for not demanding something be done about it.
But then what do you expect when you have an "oil man" in the drivers seat at the white house?
I'm still looking for the proof of the conspiracy by the oil companys to not build refineries, or even a hint of it. I do believe that's what your prior post states. This response merely rehashes what is common knowledge unless someone lives in a cave. I know no refineries have been built in 30 some odd years. One thing I'm not is naive enough to jump on a conspiracy bandwagon when I still haven't seen a hint of evidence. My understanding is the tree huggers threw so many hoops up for new refineries the oil boys threw in the towel and said f**k this! I could be wrong here too, just sharing what I've learned.

This is not a debate forum, so I can't really debate this subject with you here.

However, you are indeed displaying a distubing amount of naivety if not outright ignorance of the matter if you seriously believe the oil companies decided to give up working towards providing an economical product to the US consumers and instead chose to say, as you put it, f**k this, let's go out and make some money instead.

Believe what you want. The facts speak for themselves. This refinery shortage is no coincidence. That NO oil companies have taken the initiative to build a new refinery is no coincidence. They have actually closed some in order to facillitate their objective.

To suggest that there is no collusion going on behind closed doors with the oil companies is absurd.

Have it your way, though, and don't pay me no mind.
