Default GM Called Today

Received a call today that GM is reimbursing me for the money I spent to correct the steering lock on my 01 C5. Never thought I would see the day. Kind of renews my faith.

Hey that's great. I wonder if they accounted for that in their additional $2 Billion loss today or if they will have to make a correction tomorrow

Wonders will never cease

Maybe I'll get reimbursement for my dead AC Delco Battery which died under warranty.

Sure I will.

yet they have been claiming owner abuse and voiding warranties of new C6 Z06 owners who have torn apart output shafts

Trust me, there is no reason to renew your faith

The General has been really good about reimbursing owners for the repair. I got mine back with no hassle at all. I did take a month or two, but the check came and was honored at the bank! Glad to hear they are still doing the right thing.

Wanted to ask you, did the battery die all of a sudden or a slow death. My 2003 has not been starting as quickly as it used to, even on warm days. I think my Delco battery is weak. Thanks

This wasn’t a charge from the dealer. It was for the Column Lock Bypass Kit I installed myself. I had heard so many horror stories about the column locking I ordered the kit almost the same time I ordered the Vette. I didn’t want to take a chance getting 1000 miles from home and having the column lockup. I received a letter about a week ago asking if the column lock had been repaired/corrected and if it had and I had incurred any cost GM would review and possibly reimburse me for the cost of the repairs. I figured I didn’t have anything to lose. I returned the enclosed form with a copy of my receipt. I received the call yesterday that I was being reimbursed for the kit. The call was to verify my mailing address give me a customer service number. Maybe more letters are on the way. I know there have been many of the kits sold to C5 owners.

Love my C5 - but GM has sold their last car to me over the column lock fiassco. I called GM to get mine fixed when I had the problem and got stranded - They told me my car wasn't affected - right! Got a recall notice 6 months after I added the CLB. Sent them the reimbursment form - GM Rejected It!
Gotta vote with my wallet on this one. Stick it GM! $2 billion and counting - Couldn't happen to a more deserving company!

I know, don't sugar coat it, just tell us what you think!!

Abso-friggin-lutely. It is good that you got your reimbursement from the general. No matter how tempting they may be initially, don't get a C6. I really wish I had kept my '04 C5. My C6 has been such a nightmare, I'm about to ditch it.
