Hey guys, not trying to troll, but I was hoping to get some feedback on my current dilema. I just finished getting my Bachelors (mechanical engineering woohoo ), and landed an aerospace job which has decent pay (think pluto horizons). So my problem is which car do I really want to buy? I've seen countless Zo6's for $20-30k but in the same price range lies the toyota supra TT.
I've been able to drive a supra before and man, turbos . Hearing a big turbo spool is like the coolest sound any mechanical man made consumer product can make! Supras are definetely more rare, but at the sametime that could be a bad thing.
The Z is a good bang for the buck car, and will continue to be the staple point for american muscle. Parts will be significantly cheaper, and possibley net more hp/$. Then again I see at least 5 a day here in CA.
From: I'm a Texan, but I traded the horse for the Vette.
They're both great looking, fast cars.... but man I just hate the idea of a foreign car that ricer's put on a pedestal. I'm wierd I guess. Just think about it though... The legend in the minds of ALL called the "Corvette", and the "legend" by FEW called the "Supra"... I'm done.. listen to yourself bro

You're asking people on the Corvette forum for an unbiased opinion? Yeah right! You might find one or two people here that will tell you to go for the Supra that isn't made anymore, but I would bet most will tell you to go for the Z06.
What do you think your response would be if you posted the same question on the Supra forum (assuming they have one....)?
Oh yeah - one more thing....pay a visit to the Supra Museum and take a look at it's 53 year legacy.
Both are very nice cars. the vette will handle better stock then the supra and be a little faster but if you plan on moding the car the supra would be hard to beat the tt setup is awsome. i love the vettes but its a toss up on what one is better it depends on what your long term goals are. do you want to pay 30k on a car that is 10 years old when you can buy a zo6 for the same price and is a lot newer and have more bang for the buck for a stock veichle. my advice test drive both cars and see what one you like more.
I see that you joined the forum like half a year ago, but today is your first post. Congrats on breaking the looker vs. poster barrier!!!
Anyways I am/was/will be in a very similar situation as you. I get my BA in ME soon, and was also deciding between a c5 vette, g35, or supra.
I eliminated the g35 b/c its a little slow, and a little expensive.
Finding a low milage and non-excessively modded and abused supra was very hard. When I did find a good one, it was usually ridiculously expensive. I was also really turned off b/c of parts being more expensive.
Ultimately I chose a corvette (2 days ago) b/c of its timeless design and reputation. People of all ages envy the corvette. Even all of my import tuner friends admit how cool it is (although not too loudly, b/c it still is a domestic!!!)
Either way they are both great cars. I say pick the one which you like the look of more. Performance wise, they are very similar...

haha yeah i figured it would be like that.
I don't know if a supra can be considered a ricer though. Well I guess if its an automatic non turbo with super cool neon lights, that would be rice.
I'll def. test drive both. I have an across the street neighbor that has a '02 Z that I might have to borrow some sugar from .
Yeah they`r both fast cars. But trust me the problem is most of the supra`s r raced ones or one way or other moded ones. But on the other hand most of the corvette owners take care of their cars like their babies. So there is a big posibilty that any Z06 u will choose is almost gonna be in perfect condition. But for a perfect condition supra u have to look for it for a long long time.
I would think supra for a second car to play with.
In all fairness, if one must ask such a question, one may be best suited for the Supra. IMHO. There is much more going on with a Corvette, beyond just a car.......
Not to mention that I thnk the last year for Supras was 98, so any car you can find will be at least 8 years old, even then turbos tend to run in the $30K range.

Ive had both, my last car was a Supra TT
I know a little about the corvette, and the Supra inside out.
Either way you cant go wrong with either car, their the best cars out there for the sort of money your looking for.
Personally the Corvette wins my heart.
I loved the Supra, Im married to the Vette
What do you want to know about the Supra?
Great looks, great performance, get one with leather seats you've got yourself a nice ride too!
Bad points.....Massive turbo Lagg at 40mph, rattles everywhere inside and the odd rusting here and there depending, but thats all!
You can push the supra safer on normal roads than you can the vette, but the vette has more instant all round power.
My supra was 320Bhp as standard and was begging for increase BHP mods, if you want to spend the money youve got an easy 500/700bhp car that nothing will touch. If you dont want to waste the money fine, dont race a Corvette, chances are you'll come out worse.
Bullet proof reliabitilty from the Supra, nothing bad with the vette either so far.
I think its all down to what you want, if you want to put money into the supra then go down that road. If you want instant power as standard and great V8 tunes go for the vette
Either way you cant go wrong.
Enjoy either!

very strongly agree. we'll keep the c5 fires burning right here. best of luck. btw, congrats on the degree & career.

Shouldn't even be a question. I fell in love with Corvettes when I was 6 years old and still am. You don't usually year something like that about a Supra.
