Default Regular windshield vs. windshield with HUD capability

OK. I have a C5 with HUD. The windshield looks like someone through gravel on it. I got quotes for the regular windshield $218 and for the one with HUD capability is $948. If I replace it with the regular windshield, how bad will my HUD look when driving down the road??? Oh, and before anyone calls me a he, I am a she.

P.S. How the hec do I post apic in my posts on here???

I added the HUD to my 2002 with the regular windshield. Compared to my buddy's 2004, I can't tell the difference in clarity of the picture. I've heard that under certain lighting conditions, the picture might wash out. The easier fix, call your insurance agent and change your comp to a low deductible and wait a while, then claim the windshield. The difference on the premium on mine is less than a dollar a month. For a youthful driver, it will probably be more but surely less than the price of a regular windshield if you want to go with the HUD glass.

Can you get a Z06 windshield? Lighter than the regular one.

HUD and non HUD ones look the same, don't pay the extra.

Those that have installed the regular windshield on a HUD equipped car have reported that the clarity of the HUD is just fine. So, why spend the extra $$$s if you don't have to.

It will with a HUD windshield too. The washing out is caused by light refracting off the lens

How do you figure that it's fraud, if you're paying for it? How would it be different, if you went for the low deductable and your windshield got broken the next day? Would you say to the insurance company, just pay me less my original deductible?
