Default Need help quick

Hi everyone, I went to leave for work this morning and discovered that I had left my map light on last night, the battery was dead as a door-****. When I got home from work I put the charger on it and everything is working fine except the check engine light is on. Any ideas why? and what I can do to make it go off. I'm leaving for Chicago in the morning, that's the reason for the rush. Thanks in advance...Mike

what does the voltage meter read? did you jump start the car the correct way? if you hooked it up wrong for even a brief second you could have blown the altenator. causing low voltage to show thus the check engine light. if it is not full charge possibly something similar.

Default Thanks

No, I didn't need to jump start it, I just hooked up the charger and let it charge for about three hours. A buddy of mine who works for chevy suggested uhooking the battery cable for a while, I tried it and it worked. Thank you for the quick response, and have a great weekend...Mike
