Hey guys, looking at buying a 99 blk vert, I was originally looking for coupe, but now am torn since I really like the convertible. Would appreciate any advice/suggestions from the experts,(any problems with removable panels etc..) as this will be my first one and can't bring myself to decide if I should hold out for a coupe or go for the vert.(although know I will be happy with either one!!) Thanks!
How to you plan to use it? Will it be garaged or parked outside? How's the neighborhood? Verts are beautiful, but if you're going to drive a lot, park in public a lot, and spend 90% of the time with the top up, a couple is more secure, quieter, easier to see out of, and more practical for carrying stuff.

Will be our 3rd car, in a garage, good neighborhood, I don't plan on using it for much more than pleasure driving, but in Iowa the top down days are a little limited..... Thanks for all the tips, keep em coming...
My first was a 01 vert. It was nice but I really liked the lines of the coupe. Since I live in Phx I found I didn't put the top down a lot. It was either too hot or too cold. So I pulled the trigger and traded for my current 03 coupe. I love the way it looks and with the targa top off it pretty much gives you the same open feeling as the vert. If you're going to spend all that cash make sure you get exactly what you want.

I live in Phoenix too - and I was torn when I bought my car....coupe or convertible. I wound up with the convertible, and I cannot imagine life without a convertible Corvette! Best choice I ever made. I drive the car with the top down every chance I get - if it's above 55 degrees, then the top is down. If my wife is with me - it has to be above about 70 degrees.
As far as carrying stuff in it - it's a sportscar, not a pick up truck. I have an SUV DD if I need to go to Home Depot or Costco, etc...I drive the car for fun and no coupe in the world with a removeable panel can replicate the open air feeling of a convertible. It's tight and quiet on the rare occasions that I drive it top up. Top down, it has less buffeting than the coupe with the targa top off.
I vote that you drive them both and make your own decision. You won't get a clear cut winner out of this question - the convertible guys will tell you as I did go with the convertible. The coupe guys will tell you go with the coupe...it's best of both worlds. Make your own choice.

Decide what you want and then go shopping and don't settle for anything less.
Until our first Vert I never realized how different the openess felt.
I have had numerous cars with T- tops, moon roofs etc.... but the open air feeling of a Vert can't be beat.
