I've had my 2000 coupe for about a month now, and I'm wondering if anyone has experience with different fuel types. Is there much difference in octane levels? Should I use one over the other?
Well the owners manual says minimum 91 so there you go. Anything less will result in poor performance and lower gas mileage. I use 93 as it is highest widely available in my area. I understand 91 is the highest available in some states.
I use Sunoco 94 in my area and have never tried anything less, sometimes I wonder if I am pissi_g my $ away on too much Octane? I have never tried it but my guess is 91 is just as good
I always hit up the 91 because only one station in town has 93. Ive put 105 in a couple times last year, there was a little diffrence besides the gas being $3.00 more a gallon
I run 95 octane in mine. Timing is advanced and will ping on 93. I use Chevron with Techron. I think Texaco now has Techron in their gasoline too. Techron will help keep your fuel sending unit free of sulfer deposits, which causes our fuel gauges to give wacky readings. This is a very common problem with the C5.. If you can't find a Chevron or Texaco you can add a can of Techron to your tank 1 once a month. Its available at any auto parts store.

No, I've had the car tuned, and it was set up for 91 oct. I take a serious timing hit if it drops to the low octane fuel tables. But feel free to run around on the low octane tables if you like.
