Default Rice or Ponies?

I was driving from GA to FL last night....and I had an epiphany. I had some 2 rice mobiles challenge me and one Mustang while going up I-95. Usually the ricers will leave me alone when they pull up next to me bacuase I use the "Point and Laugh" technique to say, "No, I'm not racing you.!"

Then the Msutangs want to challenge me. I see mroe of these in this area and give them a bit more respect, but still say no.

Who tries to get you to street race more... the Ricers or the Ponies?

as a person who has had 4 mustangs....i used to try to get them to gun it a little to to see it take off or hear it. not to win or try to prove something. but ricers try me all the time, so annoying

Have not been successfully challenged by a Mustang yet... at least not a V8...

Ricers never really 'challenge' me, rather they just want to see a performance.

Only decent import challenge was from a WRX with some mods... he might have stayed closer if he didn't have 3 friends in the car with him.

I've been getting alot of plain old family cars lately. Gran Prix, Lincolns, Altimas. wtf ?

You know, at a light next to you and they punch it...then riding beside you and goosing it and/or flybys. Sorry buddy, you already know I could smoke you...I'm not going to risk a ticket to prove it.

Just yesterday, I had an old beat up Talon come after me. All I can say is 90% of the drivers on this Forum would have lost. Never under estimate the opposing car.

I was really surprised by those who want to challenge the vette. I never did that before I purchased mine. I've ben challenged by all types of vehicles. Can't take the bait.

I went for a drive yesterday and got challenged by a Honda Accord, F-150 and a Mustang respectively. I must say that Mustang was pretty quick, I had to let him go because I wasn’t about to race on busy freeway.... HoPefully next week once my Exhaust is installed they will think twice about pulling up to me and act stupid. Not that I will be so much faster but hopefully I will have that you don't want to mess with me look..

And that's exactly what some of them are tyring to prove. Some of these cars are really fast and they sucker an overly-proud vette owner into thinking they are just another punk with a ricer - then they spank you.

Not everyone is into "owning a vette" and just wants to build a fast car that they can play with. I agree with the guy who posted about the Talon - never underestimate the other car.

I have a friend with an aftermarket turbo on a VR6 GTI. Car is pretty well guttet, weights 2300lbs and makes 365 FWHP. I think that car would take care of most of our vettes, particularly from a rolling start.

Mustangs... they're everywhere! Annoying. Buzzing all around in your face. They're sorta like gnats!

No racing for me... I just smile.

I get ricers. Never had a Mustang challenge. I never take the challenge on the street. But they Do try. I don't know, but for me I own a vette because I like to drive it, work on it, polish it, race it, have fun with it. I don't want to put my life and others' at risk to prove to some young gun that my car is faster or have him prove to me his is. I do spank rice at the track regularly. And I did get my azz handed to me by a Mustang with a Whipple twin-screw even though I cut a perfect .000 light. I had him the first 30 feet...
There is ALWAYS going to be a faster car, better driver, or both out there, and the better driver's will most likely not bother to instigate.

Neither - haven't been challenged in a long time. That's fine with me - saves having to tell them no racing on the street.

so true i totally agree.. .. and for me i get instigated by alot of dudes driving . mercedez .. and M3s .. most of the time . i just laugh..and let them do what they are going to do.... and run along side until they realize i am not going to race them.... But once in a blue moon i did end up dropping the hammer on an SL 500, that felt good..... he did not last long.

P.S.
There is way too much ego .. these days ..

Be safe

peace !
