I have to have the front plate on and all of the local dealers don't let the vettes leave their lots without the cheap bracket on and two holes drilled through the bumper. Can't you just break down and cry!
Yes l can drive around without the front plate, but why do have to worry about drawing attention because of this. My concern is not the local police but the State Troopers, the fine here is $75 but with the State Troopers they could impound the vette and when they do that they tow it.
no question they are holding. I paid 26K for my 00 2 years ago and I can sell it today no problem for what I paid for it. Great car. It will probably go up in value at this point.

They have already bottomed out as much as they will. They will only go up from here.
Also keep in mind that the C6's are driven by our brothers and sisters and we must not hurt their feelings.
The C6 is a one awesome machine!

You are right - all Vettes do belong to the same family - except for maybe the C3 after '71 (but, that's a whole new debate). I have an '01, and went to the Philly car show a couple of years ago just to see the new C6. I was excited that there was a new model that I could look forward to upgrading to by their 3rd year of production (give them a chance to work the wrinkles out). But, I was just real disappointed in my first impressions (that I listed). There is no question that I will most likely get a C6 - ZO6 '08 model year because mechanically, it's a great car. But, I just wish GM had spent more time on the detailing, instead of trying to cut corners to maintain a price point. But maybe, by the '08 model, they will have corrected some of my perceived flaws.
In the mean time, I am having fun modifying and enjoying the hell out of my C5.

You guys kill me. The C5 will be depreciating for another 15-20 years before it levels out and start to go up. I'm not saying that because of any enmity towards the C5. I've got a 2002 Vert and I love it, but I know full well that its value - like that of nearly all cars - is going to continue dropping for well over a decade.

Supply and demand, C6’s are an ugly looking alternative to the C5, at cost of 20 -25k more the C5's will hold. That of course, unless GM comes out with a corrected version of the current smiley faced Nissan they got now.

I'm not a troll, I just don't step away from a good arguement.
What is your argument then? Personally I don't believe you own a C6 and are just trolling for the helluvit. Why don't you post a picture of your ride and prove me wrong.

You can't say that just as much as I can't say they will go up. If we could we would all be able to play the stock market and make millions. I think the chances of the C5 value going up now is better than going down. It's that great of a car. Look at the 92 supra's. They did nothing but appreciate. The C5 will be the same way. It's an exciting car just like the Supra was.

Not everyone thinks that the C6 is ugly. Many people in the C3 section don't have good things to say about the looks of a C5. People in the C6 section love their C6's. I personally like the C5's and the C6's.
But be that as it may, they are plenty of C5's out there, and they aren't any more special than any other Vette from the last 50+ years. In time, the C5's will probably start to appreciate. They aren't going to be at that point for quite a number of years yet. Go check your NADA guides if you'd like to get a feel for the direction of C5 values.

Nothing is for certain. GM could stop making the Vette, and that might very well cause the value of all Corvettes to spike, at least for a while. But outside of an extraordinary event like that, the probabilities of the C5's appreciating as a whole in the near future (3-5 years, let's say) is minimal.
Last October, I bought my 2002 Vert with 28k miles for $32k. Two years from now, a similarly equipped/similarly conditioned model will sell for thousands less (let's say $26k).
Now some C5 owners are resorting to calling the C6 "gay" and the "least attractive vette ever produced." I like the C5 and would consider adding one to my garage...if there was not already 10,000,000 of them on the road.
In school, did they teach you to add?
Do your numbers come from new math, or out the least attractive part of your anatomy?
Please be aware many of us in this section also have C6's, in addition to our C5's.
Many prefer one generation over another. Regardless, all generations are Corvettes, and we appreciate each.
We are not over come with your comments
If he is no constructive commentsyou can add, why not move on. I am sure there are other posts just waiting for your wonderful positioning and analysis

Shooting from the hip has worked well for me thus far.
I love this thread! Keep it going!! Keep the value of the C5 up so I can sell it. Keep bashing that ugly gay stupid Nissan looking C6 so I can afford to buy a VR or LMB Z51 05 soon!
I love the C5 (actually all Corvettes), but want a C6 in a bad way!

You guys need to wake up. A car is only worth what someone's willing to pay for it. It's going to be a long time before these cars stop going down in value.
