Yeah that sucks, but count your blessings - it could have been a real a$$hole who hit you. If that guy has/had two Vettes, then I would have expected him to be a little more careful around yours, though.
my wife got hit by a lady who had the same ins we used too. we had farmers, she had farmers ins. this became a little bit of a mess. the adjuster tried to get me to aggree that the parts where on a used car. so there for i should be happy with used parts replacement. he wanted me to go to aftermarket mufflers, and exhaust pipes. the factory ones where stainless steel and he didnt think that was needed. i told him that the other person hit me. why the heck was he trying to get me to pay for there mistake. it was farmers against farmers. so not much help from my ins agent. it all worked out but........ i dont have farmers ins. anymore because of this. i had been with them for 9 years. all three of the cars we had. i always have had three. and the home insured with them and they treated me horrible over this minor rearend collision that was the others fault. my agent in so many words told me it would have been different if it was not the same ins companies on both people involved. dont let them get away with this if they try. the parts you need are fairly cheap brand new. and to repaint a used panel would be nuts.
State Farm tried to do a similar number on me. The other party ran a red light and hit me. Both of us had State Farm......They wanted us each to pay our deductible. My position was that there was no liability on my part, so I should pay no deductible. After going around and around, I finally told them that we could settle it in court. The insurance rep. told me that if this happened they would have to represent the person that hit me. I said fine....my son is a lawyer and It wouldn't cost me a cent. Several days later I received a phone call from a supervisor apologizing for the "misunderstanding" and I would not have to pay a cent.
I had my car parked at a store and i was standing not 10' from it.The guy next to my car backs out and right into the left rear quarter panel.Thank God i got a hold of my temper a few yrs back.It helped that he apologized about 15 times and he said I know how you feel I own 2 Vettes. Now Lil Red goes to the body shop.Anyone have a Rabbits foot i can stick in my car glove box....Man i have bad luck....
It's the RED color! I love a red car, but haven't had one since my 1979 BMW 320I. The poor car was broken into and vandalized twice, got hit twice, and I got my last speeding ticket in that car.
Well, at least you were there AND he had insurance!! Ugh! As a police officer here I see SOOOOO many leaving the scene accidents! Talk about SCREWED!!
Yup, just went through a hit and run. The low-life SOB simply took off and I had to pay out of pocket. I didn't want to make an insurance claim for $150 over my deductable. Looks fine now. In retrospect, it's probably better he ran. I don't know how I would have reacted. I'm more protective over this car than I am my wife. At least she can take care of herself.
