Well, um, don't a lot of us drive Corvettes because we enjoy the head-turning attention? And now people get upset because our attention-getting car gets attention? I bet if he rolled up in a $3,000 1985 Porsche 944 they would have said "Porsche", too. The reason Dateline points it out is becasue they want to show (or imply) that this creep is making himself flashy to appeal to kids.
On the flip side, I've met and had great conversations with SO many people that have Vettes. I wish a news channel could have picked up that story about what the AZ club did for that dying kid.
I agree with the other posts -- I'm just glad they got the creep.

In every walk of life, in every hobby, group or organization there are weirdos, perverts, crimminals and A$$HOLES.......I don't think this P.O.S. reflects poorly on the majority of Corvette owners.
I agree with rcs128 I have met some of the finest, most caring, generous people (generous with time, money, etc.) through involvement with Corvettes - both online here on the forum and in person. Those stories don't sell commercial time on the tube.
Remember that Dateline was the same "news" organization that created an explosion for the old GM pickups.......all for the sake of selling commercial time and sensational news stories - pathetic.

I wouldn't worry too much about it, most people will remember the guys name and that he was a perv, before they remember he drives a Vette, heck I bet people that aren't into cars at all won't even remember it was a Vette, they'll just remember it was a "red sports car"

Who gives a crap what kind of car this idiot was driving. I think the focus was suppose to be on identifying potential predators. If you don't like owning a recognizable icon get a Neon and I guarantee you they won't mention it and we can all sleep at night.
